Interesting email came in,
Stand-alone Optimize?
The last sentence leads you believe you need a seat of Vericut.
Anybody have any input on this?

QuoteAre you looking for an optimization tool that works directly with your CAM system? If so, the new VERICUT Optimizer may be of interest to you.

VERICUT Optimizer is an entirely standalone tool path optimization solution that doesn't need VERICUT verification to run. Designed to seamlessly integrate with your Mastercam NC Program output, VERICUT Optimizer empowers manufacturers to optimize their NC programs effortlessly, regardless of your existing software setup.
The Mastercam-to-Optimizer Interface exports the CADCAM manufacturing data to VERICUT. The interface addresses the Optimizer setup requirements and then launches Optimizer with the project ready to optimize.

Yes but this sentence:
"VERICUT Optimizer is an entirely standalone tool path optimization solution that doesn't need VERICUT verification to run."

They probably realize they can reach a larger market if they sell a product that doesn't cost a bajillion dollars.

I was in a Teams meeting yesterday with the Vericut Force product manager, and we discussed this product.

I can confirm, it is an entirely standalone Optimizer that doesn't require Vericut. It is aimed at customers who have CAM software with robust machine simulation. It is a really good option for those that wanting optimization with no need for external simulation and verification.

It is a seriously good option. I didn't discuss pricing but it sounds like it is around the cost of adding Force to a Vericut license (but dont quote me on that :) )

I got a quote for Force several months ago

Mill     $24K
Lathe  $12K

Maintenance (mandatory)
Mill     $4080
Lathe  $2040

Training  $2K/day

We have some production jobs that could benefit from Force,
but at those prices, I got laughed out of the meeting.

Honestly Tom....it IS as good and better than advertised.

If you haven't, give them a part to optimize. See what they get for results on that part....then present it again and use it against the shown savings and then add a couple more jobs of "projected" savings...

If they can't see it then, they are being willfully blind.

If they can overlook those kinds of savings on a product that will return the ROI several fold in 12 months, there's not much any one can do to help them.

they were not willing to do that
I pushed and they stuck to the $2K/day training quote.
An additional issue is the part I had in mind is ITAR
That used to not be an issue as CGTech was ITAR certified...but things seem to have
changed with the change in ownership.
Frankly, I was stunned at the slack attitude I got when I called about a quote.

They also told us we needed to get people trained before they would optimize a part for us. Not sure how the conversation went, but they ended up optimizing a part for us without us having to go thru training.

That is totally out of character of them. I'm not sure who you were dealing with, but I can confirm that they will definitely optimize a part for you without training.

The type of work you do would be ideal for Force.

I just ran through Force with the Product Manager of Force. A really good guy who was very helpful. I did a presentation at a potential Vericut/Force customer yesterday, and left the optimized program with them to run. It will be interesting to see how it works out.
