Software or Hardware?

I'm working on a large part that requires an extreme amount of number crunching. I also just got a new revision of my programming software. Every so often, usually after I'm trying to modify something, it just goes away. Like it gets a brain ache and says, "Screw this, I'm gone."

I can see it being a hardware or a software problem. Since this is a new revision, which usually means new problems, I'm leaning toward software. I have over a week into this but at the rate I'm going it's going to take a long time to finish. I've been thinking about starting over using an older version, but if I have the same problems I will have wasted that time.

What do you think?

Are you keeping an eye on your CPU temperatures? It could be throttling back if it gets too hot.

Here's Johnny!

What version of CPU chip do you have? The 13th and 14th generation chips are much faster then the previous generations.

Also keep track of Used Ram and Available Ram on the Performance page of the Task Manager
If the new version of the software has a memory leak, you could be running out of memory
It's shocking how many IT departments will low ball our PC's when specing out the RAM.
