Del - you being from the Kentuc area, I thought you might have visited some of the distilleries?

I'm going up in three weeks and have reservations at Buffalo Trace, Evan Williams, Angels Envy, and Old Forrester.  Is there any other place that's a must do?

Do you need a sober driver?? I'm available.

Well, I'm available but not so much sober.

I went to the Woodford Reserve Distillery and really enjoyed it. A limestone stream runs right through it

I have heard Woodford is the Best. :)

The Buffalo Trace Distillery you are going to makes Pappy Van Winkle.

I really like it. I drink Four Roses a lot because of the price.

I snagged up a Four Roses sampler pack of their single barrel releases a few weeks back.  I really enjoyed them a lot more than their standard bourbon.
I do really enjoy Woodford, I'm gonna try and fit that one in as well I believe.

I was told that there's some cool bars at the Waterfront Park, hopefully check those out too.

I've not been there but it's very popular. I'm more familiar with the distilleries and things closer to Lexington.
Bourbon is King in this state. New distilleries popping up everywhere even around here in Western Kentucky.

Four Roses is nice Bourbon. I've got a few bottles of their Single Barrel and Small Batch.

Mind you, I have a few bottles of Woodford Double Oak, Buffalo Trace, and Willets Pot :)

CNC Softwares own 'lil piece of Poison Ivy.
TopSolid for the Win :)

Shazam/TPP

definitely see Woodford but also go see Makers Mark, dip your own bottle. Do not follow your GPS to Makers, get their map instead. GPS will take you on the back roads and you'll think your in the Deliverance!
Willet Distillery (also eat there, small plate and $$$)
Lux Rowe
Heaven Hill

good restaurants in Bardstown:
Rickhouse
Talbott Tavern (Jesse James stayed there and shot the place up)
can't remember the name of the bar but they have every Bourbon known to man
Ckeck out the Kentucky Castle in Versailles

Enjoy, fun time!!

We returned home yesterday from Louisville.  We started in Frankfort touring Buffalo Trace on Wednesday afternoon (my 40th birthday).  Buffalo is one of the largest operations and makes many different styles of Bourbon, I like most of them.
On Thursday we went to Louisville and toured Angels Envy, Old Forrester, and Evan Williams.  Angel's Envy was hands down the best tour- very interactive.  I learned a lot I didn't know about bourbon and the history of everything.
I snagged a 12yo bourbon, a couple of Rye whiskeys, and one batch # 0001 of and Old Forrester.  I would recommend to anyone that likes history and or bourbon.

Did they say where they got their water from?

Rstewart

Most of Kentucky sits atop a limestone shelf.  This limestone just so happens to filter out iron and enrich the water with calcium and magnesium.
To answer your question - The city of Louisville.  I'm unsure about the Frankfort area, can't remember what they said.
