Israel is a great study. Over half the population vaccinated (Pfizer BioNTech). Enclosed (outsiders can't get in easily as Israel is surrounded by wall). Airports closely monitored.

They found the U.K. and S.A. variants both 'had a footing' inside Israel. The Pfizer vaccine has shown to have robust protection against the U.K. variant, however, the S.A. variant has the ability to avoid the defenses of the vaccine more readily. As the two strains of COVID battled for dominance, the U.K. variant won hands down. Today, the positive test results in Israel show 90% of all strains are the U.K. variant. The South African variant is rarely found. (the original coronavirus is appr. 10% of all positive tests). Clearly, at least in Israel which is a great test site (though population is small - the one knock on it),...

The U.K. variant is winning the battle over the S.A. variant. It has become the dominant strain in the western world (Europe and the U.S.). Further evidence supports this in the U.S. South African variant is rarely found here, whereas, the U.K. variant has become widespread.

My wife's cousin Wayne and his wife Colleen both were fully vaccinated, both now in the hospital with Covid. Wayne had a double lung transplant a few years back. Now he has kidney failure as well.

The US is approaching a world's best 50% vaccinated population
This is Trump's doing though he will never get any recognition for it
Other parts of the world are in much worse shape
India is at 5%, the rich are leaving and the infection and death rate are setting new records daily
South America, Africa and Asia are not much better.

It's a theory, but I liked it better when it was just a Tom Clancy novel. Especially when they catch the tree huggin bad guys in their Amazon jungle compound, strip them nekkid, and tell them to, "reconnect with nature".

Not yet, I assume Pfizer or Moderna given their age. Both about 70.
