I guess Mike Lynch is going to retire shortly....I've really got fond memories of learning to run a friends Mori-Seiki MV-40B mostly on my own, and his "Machining Center Programming and Operation, 2nd edition" was a big help! I somehow managed to not crash Peter's MV and screwed up only a few early parts as I eased into this crazy business. ("WTF was I thinking?" is something I marvel at, too-but that's a whole 'nother discussion. LOL).

I've enjoyed reading his column in Modern Machine Shop over the years, first in print and now of course on the web. I remember looking forward to getting MMS in the mailbox every month back when you had those "bingo cards" to request info from advertisers!

I reached out to him a few years ago regarding a Custom MACRO B question/idea I had and he actually responded. I was totally caught by surprise. He didn't solve my problem per se, but his reply led me down the path to figuring it out so, I'll always be appreciative. To me he's one of my industry heroes and grateful for him and a few others like him.
