I mentioned in another thread that words matter, and this seems to me like a great example of a reporter trying to put some kind of political spin on a story that has more to do with sports / business than it does politics.

The headline of this article is "Tiger Woods takes swipe at DOJ as he gives update on LIV Golf and PGA Tour merger"

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/golf/tiger-woods-takes-swipe-at-doj-as-he-gives-update-on-liv-golf-and-pga-tour-merger/ar-AA1vctOH?rc=1&ocid=winp1taskbar&cvid=68920af19acf40f7b544aae55f2aaf4c&ei=33

His exact words were,
Quote"Even if we would've had a deal done by now, it's still in the DOJ's hands."

It sounds like a simple statement of fact to me.

Can someone read it differently, to the point where you could characterize his statement as a "swipe" at the DoJ?

Does EVERYTHING have to be politicized?

What say you?

The Daily Express US is US edition of the UK-based Daily Express, which is a right leaning media outlet. I'm not sure where we're going here?

What are we assuming they mean by "take a swipe"?

My takeaway from the article is that they (Woods and McIlroy)  are being critical of the DOJ for being responsible for the delay in the deal getting done? "He echoed Rory McIlroy's perspective on the deadlock, attributing the delay to the Department of Justice"

I just assume that anything coming from the media these days is some how being politicized.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

That is an unimaginable stretch. My gosh. Who do they take their cues from? He/Hims?

That was 100% statement of fact... aaaaaaand, not even a hint of negativity. All publicly held company's mergers are subject to government approval in one way shape or form.

What they are  t r y i n g  to do is be funny - the "take a swipe" is a golf term. Swipe the ball, hit the ball etc.

They are a right leaning media outlet. And also, from the sounds of it, not a very good one.

But yea, you might be right.  That would be a hilarious pun.  :D

Here's Johnny!

A lot of things are just "click bait"...catchy headline but there isn't anything in the actual article to match the headline.

And that won't change, unless a law gets passes that is worded in such a way that it doesn't hinder freedom of speech.
