Quote from: gcode on December 10, 2024, 05:14 AMI was surprised that they only charged the guy with 2nd degree murder.
If ever there was a case of first degree murder this is it
The murder was premeditated and he did lie in wait and ambush
In many states this is a mandatory death penalty crime.
Maybe they will recharge him later after the investigation is complete.

They likely need to present the case to a grand jury before he can be charged with 1st degree.

In 1773 the East India Tea Co used their wealth and influence to get the Tea Act passed that gave them unfair tax advantages. Shortly after a group of people stood up to this tyranny by committing a crime against the East India Tea Co. We now consider them heroes in American History.

Quote from: beej on December 10, 2024, 05:52 AMWhat is sad about this is, the insurance companies will only work on ways to beef up the security of the executives rather than being better care takers of their customers health.

UK did it for the politicians....all the "hate speech" and they pass a bill to ensure their better protection etc.
Ultimately, any "professional" who works "for the system", will be 1000% supported and protected with fat wage and pension, where Joe Soap - we'll be left on our own....

That's up to us, not them. We can't keep things the same and expect them to change.

The guy might get some sympathy for the cause because insurance companies are universally hated but this is about as clear cut a case as there can be.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

TBF, Wiggum, Eddie and Lou would have caught him sooner.
I don't think Barbrady would have though....

Supposedly the guy has an IQ of 130 and bachelor and masters degrees in engineering and computer science.
You'd think he'd be smart enough to not get caught

Book smart, street stupid??
or
Maybe he meant to get caught... a martyr for the cause ???
it's hard to not get caught. I am friends with a guy who works with me in prison ministry. As a young boy he swam across guantanamo bay after his parents were thrown in jail in Cuba for fighting against Castro. made it to the US. Eventually ended up in gang activity in Chicago. was incarerated there. escaped prison and made it to Puerto Rico. He said that being on the run was the most miserable he had ever been. constantly looking over his shoulder. if he was in a gas station and cop walked in, he assumed the cop was there to arrest him. Always paranoid that he might offend a friend who would then, turn him into cops. (which eventually happened) he broke up with a girlfriend and he was apprehended the next day. He eventually transformed his life and that's how I've come to know him. He's out now and has a ministry for people getting out of jail and trying to get their life back on track.

But it's hard for me to imagine how lonely it would have to be, being on the run 24-7

I guess he had back surgery and it didn't go well? And he lost 2 people close to him due to health insurance. That's the gist of it anyway I can't recall the details.

If I were to offer any kind of solution at all, it would be to promote more competition among Health insurers. How many companies are there? I can think of 3. use to be 4 until Federated gave up the health insurance business. I wish there were 50 to choose from.

I have some friends and family that have started using Medi-share programs and they mostly seem to like them. not quite the same as insurance but close.

Sounds great but how much time and influence do you get with your senators and congress people? How much can you donate to them? I guarantee you the insurance companies, their lobbyists, and CEO's will win that contest every time.

Del.

I'll say again that we should move to Medicare example. There are multiple plans to choose from for a supplement plan or Advantage plan and same for separate drug plans at no cost premiums. I literally think I could fix it.

Competition is usually good. It's hard for me to see how that would work though. Insurance should be stronger when more people are included.

I think the Medicare advantage plan should be disposed of too. Traditional medicare is the best bang for the buck.

That's why we need new senators and congress people. :)
