Is it really like smearing a high school girl? Or is it a shady congressman getting stupid and getting caught and then lucky that it was decided the witnesses aren't credible?

Here's the thing. Once it is decided that the witnesses are not reliable(credible) their assertions are out the window.

Couple that with the guy backrolling them is in jail for doing exactly that same thing, then their stories don't hold up.

As I said earlier, is he sleazy, yeah, probably is, beyond that we can feel one way or another about him but at the end of the day, it's based on our own preconceived beliefs about humans and him in particular.

This thread is full of people who are objecting to people in their own party being tried in the court of public opinion while happily joining that court whenever right wing media or politician comments on a person who is not in their own party.

It could be everybody is silent because there are dozens of radical right wingers eager to jump on them when they do say something and it's just not worth the hassle. Which is probably true.

As far as the decision to release the Gaetz report, it's different because it's a congressional report and not some right wing made up crap that Repugs can just wink at and pretend they have nothing to do with it.

That it is being released (after a "secret vote) speaks to how much Gaetz is disliked (to put it mildly) on a bipartisan basis.
