?

This tidbit doesn't cause me any issues. Fires can and do act oddly sometimes.  Airflow can greatly affect things...

There are plenty of other things that scream for attention but not that in my mind

I travel a lot. Probably 30+ round trips per year on average.

I see people use their US Passports as ID at least 25% of the time. I do not find that odd in the least that he had it on/with him.

The card or the full passport?

I don't know if this is a dumb question, so forgive the ignorance; why would someone want to carry around their passport if they didn't have to?
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

agreed, when our house burnt down, there were some things that survived that felt like nothing short of a miracle.

It just feels eerily similar to a certain day when they found the passports of a few guys who hijacked and flew airplanes into buildings that then burst into raging flames...

Just guessing here, but if the person doesn't have a REAL ID compliant driver license with a gold star they'd need their passports to fly. And this guy in particular was on leave from his base in Germany so he might have just had it on him regardless.

I didn't think of that.  I guess it would probably be more common now that the enhanced id is required. I've had an enhanced id for years now so never think about it.

When I traveled frequently I'd use my passport because it was always in an easy to access pocket on my carry-on bag, which I always left packed with essentials.

That's waaaaay less fun than conspiracy theorying tho...

Full Passport. I'm sure more use the card, but that isn't as obvious since it basically looks like an ID from a distance. No mistaking a US Passport.

I've never asked, but if I had to guess, a Passport can go through security whereas many wallets cannot (mine cannot - it's an RFID blocking type), so you have your passport in your pocket, wallet in your bag that goes through the scanner. It's one less thing to remove from your person when going through security.

I have to jettison my phone, my wallet an my belt to get through security unmolested.

How about this?

And let it be known Timothy McVeigh also spent time at... Fort Bragg.

The same Fort Bragg that's home to the Psychological Operations division of the Army.

How many thousands of troops are also stationed at Ft Bragg? Many..

I've not seen that they had any overlap there to this point.

It'll be interesting if any specific overlap is found

I'm pretty sure it's the fort formerly known as Bragg

I'm not saying they knew each other, I'm saying at least 4 "terrorists" spent time at a place where the Army and CIA also do some pretty dark tests/experiments.
