I saw some pretty cool stuff while I was there. The architecture is amazing although it appears that more of it is modern than they would have you believe as a tourist. Some of the historical sites were just awesome. We took a guided tour of the colosseum which was very interesting. Especially some of the history.

The City felt like more of a tourist trap than a historical gem. You were constantly having to keep your eye out for pick pocketers and there were scammers every 15 feet.

This was the middle of the winter and it was so crowded that you could barely get around. We were told that what we experienced was about half of the people that are there during the summer.  I couldn't even imagine what that would be like.

This is an experience that I'm glad I had but not sure I would want to do it again any time soon.

We started our vacation in Furore Italy which was the exact opposite of what we found in Rome. It was peaceful and quiet. The people were some of the nicest people I've ever met in my life. Everyone was super welcoming and nice. It was definitely more my cup of tea.

Naples, what can be said about Naples. What a shit hole.  lol.

I may post some photos at some point but I got the flu while I was over there and am still a little under the weather. My g/f stayed for another week and are going back to Naples (ugh) and touring Pompei and then off to Sorrento.

Flying coach for 11 hours sucks the big one and I hope to never have to do it again.  lol.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

At least you get free booze on international flights, right?

Not in coach.  At least not on the airlines I was on.

I'm impressed that a Michigan fan knew who Michaelangelo was.  :P

I heard that visiting the Great Pyramids was the same. A tourist trap with scammers everywhere.
As much as I'd love to visit them, I probably won't.

I told you to be aware of the pick pockets...the police just need to go in heavy and break legs. Spain too.
We actually went to the zoo there to have a break from the crowds
Did they point out and tell you about the narrow stream that runs all down hill past the colleseum?

I don't think so. I don't recall seeing a narrow stream anywhere.

We never had any problems but you were constantly having to be alert.  There was a huge marathon going on so there were 100's of very well armed police there. They looked more like military than police.  That probably helped.

The stream was diverted/made and runs past a few sites and was "to take the blood away".
