When I went to Singapore as a child in the late 1950's Singapore was the capitol of Malaya
Now google says it is an independent island state. I did not know that..  :o

Yup... I remember the case of a young Australian woman facing the death penalty for drug smuggling.
She claimed she had been tricked into carrying a suitcase full of drugs. She was in a world of hurt,
but I never found out what happened to her.

This fire is about five miles away

It's down wind, in the river bottom where the homeless hang out.
Fires are frequent there.
Current reports state the fire has been contained with a dozer line.
The wind is strong tonight. Hopefully containment will hold.

My oldest lives in Mira Loma... about a 1 mile walk to the riverbed near Hamner.

The homeless over there are out of control.

Supposedly they found a patsy to pin it on.

I was watching News Nation yesterday and they were showing video of a power station that looked like it had a blaze starting underneath it.

I don't imagine that it's too far of a stretch to think that with 80mph winds and tree branches hitting power lines, that it was the potential cause of at least some of these fires?

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Jeff

The main cause for the shitass response to these fires is DEI and Newscum's laws.
The main cause for these fires, every single year, is the lack of forestry management and water preservation.
This runs deep, and goes back years. Hundreds of millions of dollars allotted for water and high speed rail vanished into thin air.

Oh and don't forget the 2028 Olympic games, guess who's hosting it? Coincidence?

Nah... it IS a significant contribution though.

Concensus seems to be that deteriorating powerlines create sparks due to high winds which in turn ignite brush. Also, I think people forget hot embers can travel for MILES and ignite other fires.

The last I heard was the palisades fire was caused by fireworks residue rekindled by high winds

Falling powerlines were the cause of the Eaton file and lawsuits have already been filed
