Pacific Palisades to be precise.

Here in Riverside County I've received texts an emails stating it is likely that our power will be shut off in the next 3 hours.
There are no fires around here at the moment and my wife and I and the dogs are safe.

Power went off a couple of minutes after my last post.
Cellular service is still up.

No traffic lights... and I can still hear big V8s blasting down the roads.
No lights doesn't mean the idiots stay home.

Wonder if the local news people did their usual 'casting call' calling out the extreme dry fire hazard conditions and for people "to be careful'? Which of course results in just enough firebug assholes to head for the hills, lighters in hand.

Well your welcome at our place, bring the wife and the pups and you won't have to worry about the fire burning your butts.
Just the frostbite maybe, 7 degrees here this morning =)

Jeff

All will be good, FEMA will give you $750.

Meanwhile the mayor handled the fire by taking an overseas trip.

Is it true what I heard on the news this morning that the planes that dump water aren't able to fly currently due to high winds?

RobertELee

That's very common. Problem is that when there are high winds the fires spread even more quickly.

It's funny, here I am typing about fires in California and my mind is telling me it must be July or August, but when I look out the window there are several inches of snow on the ground. Fires shouldn't be happening in Cali in January. Or at least they didn't when I was growing up.

Stay safe everyone.

50 years of mismanagement will do that.
