Quote from: gcode on January 09, 2025, 12:27 PMThose were the houses actually on the beach, facing the ocean with their backs to the highway.

I'd have thought the highway would have acted like a firebreak enabling some of the houses to be saved,
but that was not the case.. The winds must have been fierce.

Quote from: mkd on January 09, 2025, 12:32 PMWonder what the property values will be for the next 5 years.
 Anyone betting on fire sale?

a decade from now there will be nothing but billionaire's mansions and high end hotels.
the Joe Blow millionaires and trust fund babies who used to live there will not have the $$$
needed to rebuild.

Quote from: gcode on January 09, 2025, 12:27 PMI don't know about the city itself, but from what I've read and seen , everything on the ocean side of the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu is gone.  Those were the houses actually on the beach, facing the ocean and their backs to the highway.
I think some of them we appraised north of $250 million.
Poor Paris Hilton owned one of them and is now homeless

It's sounds like it was all just south . Point Dume and Topanga Canyon..

So The Pier and Malibu Inn seem clear. And Paradise Cove.

Can't see if Agoura got hit , Lots o'Celebs There. (Gallagher and others)

Kurt and Goldies house is just North and So is Demi's and Bruce's.

Zuma is said to be Clear. But Point Dume Beach is just one Freaking Hill Away. :o

My family is from there. Some beautiful country, but very hot and humid. And, well... my family is there, and Ozarks.

PCH????

It rides the Beach I mean like a 1/4 mile.

In certain spots like Topanga Canyon the wind accelerates being Pushed through the Pass they said up to 100 MPH.

Agoura Pass through Topanga is Notorious.

A Blow dryer on High Heat and Fan 3" from your Face.

This is Not Climate Change Nor even warming My Balls.

This it has done For over 60 years in my Life.

Do you know what's changing??

People are moving in..... Durr!!

The red is the estimated affected areas on Google Maps.

Americans are dumb. We build in places that get hit by natural disasters (like places where fires have traditionally ravaged hillsides) and then act surprised and blame it on climate change when it burns down. Or build a city, below sea level, on a coast that is prone to hurricanes. Act surprised and blame climate change when it floods. Rebuild, rinse, repeat.

Sure, those fire or floods may only happen every 100 years of so, but simple fact is they will happen. We are retards at managing resources, whether it be storing water, harvesting timber, or zoning places that will eventually burn.

You can build a house anywhere, doesn't mean you should do it though.

I know this doesn't speak about LA specifically, but this is Kali in general in regards to water.

I don't think you know what gaslighting means.

You posted a link to an article and I asked you a question about the article that you posted. Then you didn't answer.  Why was that?

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.
