I don't agree with you. Am I not allowed to disagree?

I think that most people want the same things and that the idiots of both sides are the loudest and are used to benchmark the lunacy of politics. I'm pretty naive though so..

Here is what you don't get.

You just called Del a Liar.

Opposition is one thing.

I'm not busting your Balls. Just letting you know. :)

Percentage-wise I think the far left is small. The problem is they happen to occupy places with platforms, microphones and cameras... a LOT of microphones and cameras.

IMHO this gives them a disproportionate amount of power and an amplified voice.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Quote from: neurosis on January 10, 2025, 01:20 PMI think that they get more perceived credibility because of that, but I don't think that all of their ideas are accepted by the majority of the Country.  I feel the same about the far right fringe.

Not to suck del in, but his ideology isn't that of someone on the far right.. not even right of center.

Why do you think that is all of the sudden? lol.

I can see Zuck and even Bezos wanting to cover their ass. Musk wasn't at the same risk as them though.

Also, I can imagine that maybe they really never agreed with the far left crazy and just went along to keep Biden's DOJ and other agencies off their back. I would guess they were probably more center left in ideology and since the party has taken a hard left off a cliff they are now happy for a change.

If I had to choose, I would choose misinformation over government controlled information.

I get misinformation all day long every day. companies pushing products that will cure baldness, or make you skinny, or whatever. I can decipher through what is true and what is not.

At work someone will tell me one thing and another guy tell me something else. I can usually look at it and see what's true. We have customers trying to pull the wool over our eyes about how much money is or isn't in a project.

I can deal with misinformation just fine. But if Government starts trying to hide information because it is misinformation, well, that is a completely different deal. Democrats were trying to hide information that was true because it was information they don't like. Maybe Republicans would like to do the same thing. At any given point half of the country is not going to trust what the government calls true.

I don't want republicans deciding what is true any more than I want democrats deciding what is true. Because if Republicans have the power over that now, democrats might have it in 4 years and neither can be trusted with that kind of power, in my humble opinion.

Let's not forget, Biden tried to create a literal government department to control "misinformation"... IOW... media they didn't like.

Not everyone does, though.

What percentage of people get their news exclusively  from social media now? None of the information vetted?

QuoteAccording to recent data, about one-third of people aged 18 to 24 use social media as their primary source of news.

That's fuckin scary.

Quote from: neurosis on January 10, 2025, 01:03 PMI think you're pulling numbers out of thin air and most of it isn't true. You could probably give me 10 examples of something that was considered a conspiracy that either turned out to be true, or partially true. We see ton's of misinformation every day. I'd like to see a true percentage of how much of that actually turns out to be true.

It occurred to me a while back that something that might be telling is a sticky thread containing the new conspiracy theories that come out so we can look back at them and really get a percentage of how many have actually come true.

Right now people just cherry pick what they want and forget about the rest of it.
