Just looking to start a discussion on your thoughts around this incident that happened at a Philadelphia Eagles game this weekend. It has gone insanely viral but if you haven't seen it here is a clip.

If you watched most of it the guy talks about how the internet has tracked this guy down, found his profiles, his work, etc. They then went after his work, calling for boycotts etc if they didn't fire him. And this morning it was announced he was fired.

I'm mostly curious on what you think. Has the internet gone too far? Not far enough? Does the business have a right to fire him over something he did on his own time not representing the company in any way short of just working there. Is this using the internet for good or bad?

I'm on the fence(please don't call me Neuro :fun: ), the guy is obviously a complete douche, and he should be punished, or at the very least made a mockery of and allow the chips fall where they may. But IMO there is a line that should not be crossed and that is his personal life. Work, family, etc, especially when it doesn't involve them. We've all done things we regret (mostly after a few too many drinks), and hopefully learn from them, but why should those mistakes affect other people (family, job, etc) that weren't involved when those mistakes happened to be (mostly) legal? (Likely a disorderly conduct misdemeanor in there)

And for the record I don't feel bad for the guy in the least, I feel bad for his wife and daughter who have to put up with him and lose whatever support he provided to the household.

I feel everyone has done something they are not proud of at least once in their life.  I don't feel it should affect his work.  if there is a pattern then his employer would have already terminated him.  the internet shame and being banned from the stadium should be fine.  also an apology to the couple would be nice.

While sunlight is the best disinfectant and stupid games have prizes, nobody knows the full context and it was only words.
Employer that fired him should be called out for being cunts

I can't hear what he said, but tracking him down like that is called doxxing. And I believe it's illegal in some states.
The Philly fan could sue, both the people that doxxed him and his employer.

But now you know what most osu fans are like. Scum of the Earth. Both Texas and Tennessee fans confirmed that it's the worst fanbase in college football.

I'm lucky enough to work for a company that doesn't judge what I do off of the clock.

Philadelphia fans in general have proven their worth as well.

The guy is lucky that he was harassing someone who wouldn't throw him down the stairs for being an ass. who talks to a woman that way. Especially unprovoked.

To be fair, he was surrounded by thousands of Eagles fans, had he done that he'd likely be in a coma or worse.

IMO, exchanging words about an opposing team is fine if done in good sport and taste. Making derogatory misogynistic statements is not acceptable under any circumstance. I wouldn't want to learn someone that works with/for me was acting like that towards women.

You are correct, and I am all for letting the chips fall where they may. However it isn't the internet's job to doxx the dude and get him fired. Now if his boss and coworkers happen to see it and make his job miserable for doing what he did and he then quits or gets fired for not doing his job properly or whatever excuse can be made then the chips fell where they fell. But to call for a boycott of the company that employs him and 99.9% of the people have never even heard of or will do business with anyway is just pure evil.

Considering the company he works for, they had no choice but to fire him.

"BCT Partners — a DEI-focused management consulting firm based in East Brunswick, N.J. — announced the firing in a statement Tuesday night that they had concluded their internal investigation and "decided to part company with the employee."

That's not evil, that's business.
