But greedy people are going to be greedy no mater where they fall on that scale. The difference is, there are people on that scale that are already struggling so you can understand where they're coming from?  I've been there. 

This is going to turn in to a class envy argument so lets not go there.  I was going to push the flat tax conversation with G a little more but I already know where that goes. 

I guess it's easier to be sympathetic to a bunch of people who can't afford to eat or pay their medical bills than it is to be sympathetic to people who can't figure out how to avoid paying taxes?

As a guy that had my own business for a short period of time, I can definitely sympathize with folks trying to keep every penny they can... because they earned it. That said figuring out how you're going food to eat your next meal is DEFINITELY the harder of the two.

Also being said, "The poor, you will ALWAYS have with you...". That doesn't mean don't have compassion, that doesn't mean mistreat them, and it definitely doesn't mean ignore them. It just means no matter what ANYBODY does, up to and including taking ALL the wealth from the top 5% and distributing it to "the poor". After that, there will STILL be poor people.
