My son works in sales for Garmin. They send a pretty big team to it. He's tried to get his name on the list, but it's the same bunch of dudes that have been going for years. Until somebody moves on, nobody new gets to go.

Can he get me a deal on one of these??

Well, he could have.

Put in his two week notice yesterday.

I'm surprised his boss didn't see it coming. He's been ordering so much Garmin shit that's shipping to Indiana, well outside his sales territory.

He is only allowed so many discounts per year. He interviewed for his new job just before Christmas. Went on an ordering spree before Jan 1. Then maxed out his 2025 discounts the first two weeks of the year.

He also saves his discounts for the higher end stuff. He sold several golf simulators which retail for $5K and a bunch of their Live Scope fish finders when word got around to friends and family that he was leaving.

You should buy one though. They are totally worth it.

Yeah, I've been saving up for a golf simulator build for a bit now.  I would have loved to get one of his discounted units lol.
It's gonna cost somewhere in the 4.5k range to put together what I'd call a nice simulator.

I think on most big ticket items it was like 40%.

He bough two live scopes in December for a friend of mine. One for his pontoon, one for his bass boat. The first week of January he tried to buy two golf simulators for my neighbor and his son. The system would only let him purchase one. Then he noticed an email he'd got a couple weeks before that said as of Jan 1 they could only sell one big ticket item using their discount per quarter.

The thing I will miss most is the website he had access to that was for all kinds of outdoor related products. Depending on the brand, some of those discounts were well over 50%. I got a pair of Costa sunglass for $80. He got his nephews North Face winter coats for under $20 each. When we Christmas shopped, he'd set a Teams meeting and we'd just pour through that website for hours.

Now he's going to work for a company that sells warehouse supplies. Pallet racks, shelving, loading docks, Big Ass fans, etc.

Christmas is gonna be a real bummer around here next year.

It's funny. My neighbor bought the golf simulator to go in his newly finished pole barn. He has two empty electrical boxes in the ceiling for fans. He is really stoked about the kid's new job.
