I'm sure there are other ways, I'm no economist, neither are you.
It was happening in Trump's first term and I didn't feel the higher prices, in fact my bank account kept growing. Unlike PedoJoe's administration where my bank account has taken a massive hit.
We could hold shit up at customs with red tape forever just like China does.
We could also tax the hell out of imported goods so that companies move back to the U.S. Or tax them but tell them that the price doesn't raise 1:1.

From everything I've read, Trumps first term tariffs had almost no benefit (some jobs were gained and some were lost) on employment in the US. Basically, our prices went up and we had very little to show for it in regards to employment. You could say that he negotiated better trade agreements using tariffs as a bargaining tool?   

That's another discussion.

And you're right, I'm not an economist so I can't predict the future. I can only tell you what I've read about the past.  Let's just say that I'm more than skeptical when someone tells me that Mexico paid for any of the boarder wall.
