It's not an accurate comparison. Facebook wasn't created with the sole purpose of doing something illegal (selling drugs).  It also is available to everyone where silk road was set up to intentionally be hidden and only found if you know where to look or know someone who knows.

If you set up a private FTP site and used it to transfer bootleg software and allowed all your friends to do the same, you would be in the same boat as Ross Ulbricht. Now lets say you did that on a larger scale and allowed 1000 people access to your FTP site. You would be up shit creek even if you yourself never transferred a single file.
