Akshully, they needed to release water because if they did not, the reservoirs/dams would overflow when the snow runs off AND there is an expectation that a storm is coming through I think next week that was predicted to overrun the storage system.

Trump literally said that he was trying to refill the LA reservoirs.

Nothing I've read said that there was going to be an overrun.  If that's new news, then someone must have been psychic?

Not only that, but they didn't give anyone below any warning and dumped water to the point that the rivers were at capacity.  Almost flood level.
