I'm not up on all he wants to do but I know he wants certain things removed from food like Europe has done.

I knew my cat was getting close to the end; I've been through it before. He was not an outside cat at all. He might step out on the porch but that was it. He had to be close to 20, if not a little older.

One night I was bringing stuff in from the car and accidentally left the garage door open. I didn't notice for a couple of hours, then I closed it. I guess he must have gotten out because I never saw him again. I wonder if he went outside to find a place to die. I secretly hope someone found him and took him in but I don't really think so.

At one time, I had 4 dogs and 3 cats and now it's just me. Feels kind of strange.

That sucks Mike. I'm hoping our Yorkie dies in her sleep as I'll lose my shit having to put her asleep. We love her so much . I think I have cried everyday for 2 weeks.

I worked at a vet clinic in high school and went through many end of life times.

Let me say that they give the best of end of life.

Truly love and very compassionate.

It's not painful and just going to sleep.

And the pain is gone, Except for you.

The pain meds she is on are keeping her peaceful right now. First day she refuses to eat. I won't let her be in pain. If she doesn't eat tomorrow I will know what I have to do. She has been a joy and so thankful we have had her 15 years. It's a fearful thing to Love what death can touch!!!

Our local vet used to deal more in farm animals than pets. But they would always come to the house to put down a dog. As their practice has grown and shifted more to pets, they now refuse to come out to the house.

I took our Jack Russell to the office last year when it was his time to go. After that I told the wife, we are going back to ole Yeller style. I will shoot a dog myself before I ever put another animal through that.

To be fair, he was an extremely protective, antisocial little bastard. He hated everyone and everything that wasn't part of our immediate family. Taking him to an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar people made his last half hour on earth his worst half hour on earth. A chunk of hamburger and a .22 would have been a much more peaceful way for him to go.

When our big, old dog Zeus had to go several months later, I knew I couldn't shoot him. He was the best dog I have ever had. The wife found a vet who works in an office all day and is basically Dr Kevorkian for dogs in the evenings, for cash.

It was ridiculously expensive and worth every penny.

Zeus was also extremely protective and didn't like strangers, but this chick sat close to him for an hour and made friends before he'd finally take a treat from her. That treat had a little something in it to chill him out. She then said, you can take all the time you need. Just let me know when you're ready. When we finally were, he got to go out in his favorite spot. Watching out for us like he had for 14 years.
