Going everyday was for me. I Loved learning.

Some people laugh at AA degrees But I like them .

If you can't learn it in two years. Maybe your Slow. ;D
Took me 4 to run through all the Mfg. classes there... I was working full time and had a young family. I know, I know, I know, excuses, exceuses, excuses.

I was going for a degree at first, but after Cummins shut down their Santa Fe Springs facility I needed to pivot my career path a little. I was tempted to go back a few times, but I just don't want to take all those weeder classes.

I do not regret that decision one bit so far, besides that my learning has never stopped. My learning will stop when I breathe my last breath. Learning has never been easier than it is today. I mean, I used to have to go to a physical library to get specific types of resources, now I can just pull them up online, or order them and they'll be on my doorstep in a few days at most.

Yep The weeder classes got me.

I could read a scale and calipers. I didn't need a course on it.

LAVC offered hands on Machines. So I walked, also 30 miles closer to home base. ;D

As is usual in disasters the more time passes, the more accurate and detailed information becomes available.

The helicopter pilot may not have heard ATC's complete transmission.  😬 The age old problem of comms... if the key is depressed, the other side of the communication is not heard.

This is linked to an AP article.

Back in my DO days, we had a guy come to us (company) with his patented idea to solve this.
CONTRAN was the product, which stood for Conflicting Transmissions.
We had Dan Air as the test bed but basically developed it too late because (i was told) Fairchild had rolled out a solution rendering what we were developing surplus.
This was 1994.
The litigation then followed and the legal cost far outweighed the development cost
