Quote from: CNCAppsJames on January 30, 2025, 03:55 PMIn terms of listening percentages my medium they go in this order;
Podcasts
SeriusXM (Hair Nation or Ozzy's Boneyard)
Radio (NPR)

60, 30, 10... maybe 70, 25, 5...

I listen to NPR because I love the sound of shrieking harpies talking about how bad the things that are important to me are; right to work, freedom of speech, right to bear arms, #OrangeManBad,  etc......

:coffee:

I think Lucinda is Hawt.

I would love my Dog to Take her. ;D

Check out "Down Where the Spirit Meets the Bone"
It's her best work IMO.

That's a shame. I hadn't heard that. I first heard of her when she did a duet with Steve Earle, "you're still standing there." I really like her music.

I hadn't either, until I just now googled her to get the full correct name of the album I just recommended.
I wondered why her recent live performances were so awful. I had assumed she was battling drugs and alcohol
but that is not the case.

Her music is great.

QuoteOn Good Souls Better Angels, Williams wades through the bad news to deliver her most pointed and topical album to date. She is particularly unsparing in singing about Donald Trump, who she calls "the worst president we've ever had in the history of the United States."

I really enjoy Steve Earle's music too. a bernie sanders supporter. It doesn't bother me that they see things differently than I do.

Quote from: mowens on January 30, 2025, 10:52 AMI used to listen to the radio a lot. You could always here new music that, sometimes, is really good. Now, when I try to listen to music on the radio, it's either Taylor Swift type pop music, hip hop, or classic rock.

AAAAANDDDDD...more commercials than music, BY FAR.

I spent my whole adult life working in machine shops where we always had the radio on back in the day.
It made the day a little more bearable by drowning out some of the noise from machines, air compressors, etc...

A local rock station most everyone liked used to play a 'rock-block' where they would feature 5-6 really good songs in a row with no commercials, then MAYBE two or three 30-second commercial spots, then back to more good music.

That is NOT the case anymore.
I turned the radio on in my garage a couple of months ago as I was out there doing a few things, and I was listening to that same station.

They played maybe two songs, then three or four commercials, two more songs, three or four more commercials, etc...

I turned it off, popped in my earbuds, and opened Pandora on my phone.
Classic 80's is my go-to, and the price of the subscription is worth every penny IMO to not have to listen to constant commercials.

I use spotify, mostly. I find an artist that I like and then tell it to play his "radio station" which is music that is similar in style and you often times get musicians you never knew about. My son is a musician with his own spotify channel, and when I listen to his radio station, I get all kinds of independent artists, that are great, and sound a lot different than mainstream genres.

100% with you on that one. I have Spotify family, so we rock 5 accounts, everyone is adless and happy. I would be behind schedule constantly if I couldn't listen to tunes at work. The bosses let me bring in a hifi setup for my office too, so I listen to stuff at an unbearable dB level all day and the hours melt away. The boys will come in every now and again and ask what the racket is, or slide in some recommendations. It's been pretty cool so far, listened to a ton of different music I would not have heard otherwise.

If I want to listen to music, I listen to SiruisXM. Hair Nation, Ozzy's Boneyard, Octane, and 1st Wave are the usual stations. FM Radio is unpleasant at best and I only listen to it to hear NPR's shreiking Harpies.
