The last time I went to church was in Jr High.

I stayed over at a friends house (he moved to a different City) and to stay over, his parents made me agree to go to Church with them in the morning. This was back in the early 80's and I can't remember what kind of Church this was, but at some point everyone around me started speaking in tongues and it scared the shit out of me.  :lol: I haven't been in a Church since. 
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Well, in my opinion, I'm seeing a lot of stuff on this thread that is questionable.


How can you go from not trusting anything an administration does to blindly endorsing EVERYTHING an administration does?

Statements like "we assume he's been vetted". Why? because he owns the company? You think NASA said "we can't do business with SpaceX until Elon has been vetted"? I don't think so. Money matters.

Government is still government, no matter who the administration is.

Government is controlled by human beings. Human beings who have actively worked to obtain positions of power and prestige. There may be a scant minority who start off with altruistic intentions, but, for the most part, these are people with huge egos. Egos that can very easily get in the way of doing what's right for the country. As we know, power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. People with huge egos still make mistakes. I think it's dangerous to think otherwise.

I really do not get the push back from people on reducing foreign aid. The budget deficit is 1.7 trillion, growing every year. We are 7 trillion in debt. Even if we do balance the budget, it's a real possiblity that tax rates will have to go up to pay off the debt. Social Security and Medicare are about to hit a financial cliff.

foreign aid, should be a bipartisan slam dunk.

Most likely because some of that money is used for other things under the guise of being foreign aid and they don't want it to become public knowledge.

And the thing is he was basically voted in. Elon being put in charge of DOGE has been talked about since last summer. It's not like it was just brought up after the election, so in essence he WAS part of the election. If you didn't like the thought of Elon having this access you didn't have to vote for Trump. Same as VP. It's completely different than the Biden clownshow who was never talked about until they were appointed AFTER the election.

I do. Do you? You should treat this administration with the same vigilance and suspicion that you treated the last one. Every administration should be treated that way. You should never assume the government is behaving the way you think it should or has your best interest at heart. Imagine you are walking through a rough part of town. You will be hyper aware, with your head on a swivel. That's how someone who still gives a shit should treat the people who have their very lives in their hands.

Don't forget what Reagan said were the nine scariest words. "I'm from the government and I'm here to help".

I hear about weapons grade rose colored glasses. There seems to be an epidemic of them now.
