Quote from: YoDoug on February 14, 2025, 07:19 AMI am really hopeful that RFK Jr. and DOGE will expose the corruption between the FDA/USDA and big food/big pharma.

That would be great, but if you think big pharma will face any penalties or restrictions I've got a bridge to sell you. The more likely outcome is that the FDA/USDA will bit neutered and big pharma will proceed with impunity.

Isn't that how they operate now? They have insiders at all levels of government from elected to appointed positions. they fast track studies and trials with skewed results, then get sealed records for decades. They make billions over a decade or so. Then when a class action lawsuit comes up they settle for millions and require gag orders. Until Luigi the Hero stepped up not one single exec or board member has ever faced retribution.

So what's the solution? Gut the agency?

You realize that you, and 99% of the people who voted for Trump, aren't actually on the same team as him, right? Big pharma is on the team. Tesla is on the team. Energy companies, big tech, wall St, etc, are on the team. Trump's brilliance is making peons like you and me think we're on the team, but we couldn't even get into the stadium, let alone the locker room.

Wake the fuck up.

And you think any other politician let the peons on the team? Trump is the one who is actually bringing outsiders of government in and do their job, nobody else has done that. He is closer to us than any other politician has been in 50+ years. I'm not expecting to have dinner with the guy, I'm expecting him to help cut the bloat and bull shit that has been created the last 50 years so my kids aren't saddled with 100 trillion in debt and following orders from China.

If Trump was on the team of all those interests that you listed then why would he be gutting the funds and firing the people in the .gov agencies that work for the "team"? Your post doesn't make any sense.

He didn't list any agencies. He listed the companies those agencies regulate. That's just my observation.

Go back and reread what I said. I said if trump was on the team of those interests, referring to the team of companies Bucky listed. Then I said why would Trump gut the agencies, in reference to Bucky saying why gut the agencies. I then said those agencies work for the companies he listed as part of the team. You are correct that those agencies should be regulating the "team" companies, but we know that's not how it works.

I got that.  I think the argument is that the agencies need to do their job rather than being gutted.

I'll stay out of it now. I feel like I'm trying to be a mind reader at this point.  :D

There needs to be FEWER agencies period.

At last count there are over 400 Government Agencies... that we know about. Add in the NGO's which are really Government Agencies but with diplomatic cover.

Think turd in the punchbowl. When the corruption is in the entire bowl you need to dump it out and start over. All it takes is remaining turd to keep contaminating the punch.

Big Pharma is on the team, yet he added RFK (whose one constant is anti-big pharma) to the cabinet
Tesla is on the team, and energy companies are on the team, hmmmm, he's trying to make oil cheaper and ended the mandate on EV's
Wall street is on the team, and yet he is pushing to end the carried interest loophole
Big Tech is on the team but now he is adding tariffs to all of the markets where they get their goods.

I don't think he is listening to his team. It's like he just does whatever the heck he wants.
