The reciprocal tariffs were literally just reinstated on August 7th

We went through three months of

With yet another delay on China tariffs.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Afraid of wall street reaction. Tariffs on/off sure have pumped up the stock market. Good thing he backed off when he did.
More tariffs less slavery taxes 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I saw a new 2025 5L Mustang the other day.
It was grey with the new enamel paint they are using these days.
It was gorgeous and sounded even better.
It made my heart sing just looking at it.
I have absolutely no intention of buying one though.
A couple of days later an add from the local Ford dealer popped up on my phone
$77,000 !!!!  I'm assuming that car is made in USA and not subject to tarrifs, but holy crap!!!
that's a lot of money.  My dad paid $3,000 for a new1970 V8 Mustang.

On the more sensible side.
In Jan of this year I bought a couple of Sandvik high pressure through coolant grooving tools
for an inconel job we run all the time.
Sandvik grooving tool

They work really well and have turned a troublesome job into a license to print money$$.
In Jan $2025 they cost $607 each.
I'm going to order a couple of spares, so we'll see first hand how bad the Trump tariffs are going to hurt.

In 2019 I paid 29000 for a 2015 Mustang 5L GT with 22000 miles on it. I probably got ripped off but at the time I didn't care.

The Mustang was introduced as a "fun" car that could be driven by the average "guy"

Years later it has become some kind of prestige car with the technology & price tag to go along with it...

I am currently in the market for something new, time to retire our 2009 Nissan Rogue...I had a decision to make...

As I am otherwise currently debt free, if I chose I could certainly afford a larger price car purchase....
The difference for me though is, even though I "can" afford it, I don't "want" afford it...

Already approved financing from my bank in my hand, I am going to look at a Toyota RAV4 that will be somewhere in the $35k range....

I'll make the purchase that I "need" to make and not the one I would "like" to make....and I'll keep putting that remaining $$ money away towards retired in 5-7 years

$3k in 1970 is now $24k.
Mustangs.have gotten much better over time.
I'd say it easily justifies $50k in this inflationary Biden era.

*If* I buy another car in the next 5 or so years, that's the car I would like to get. I plan on getting the hybrid model.

I don't know if I'll be able to afford it by then.

The car I'm driving now I plan on driving in to the ground.

Yup, my 2014 Nissan Altima w/230k miles, I will drive that into the ground....at that point I'll decide if we still "need" 2 vehicles or not and if we do, I'll buy something used and pay cash

Gas powered for me...

With our discount right now, our price is $687 each.
It's good to know we're not too far behind in pricing from the large shops.

We have a few machines that we have started to identify trouble spots in the design and normal wear items. In our horizontals that each make about 50K lbs of aluminum chips a year, we end up replacing the lower telescoping covers under the spindle Y axis about every 12-16 months. In 2023 they were about $2400. In 2024 They were $3300. In Feb of 25 they were $4200. I just requested a quote for a new set. We will see how much they have gone up.

They are dropping the gas only RAV4's.  They will be hybrid only in 2026.  We just bought a '25 hybrid RAV for my wife and she loves it.  She's pulling close to 50MPG in it.
