Zelensky acts like a coke addict.
He mutters under his breath when Trump or Vance is talking. He looks away, etc... his complete body language tells the story.

He thinks he's entitled to the money that Biden has been gifting him the last 4 years.
Nah that's not how it works.

The main difference between the money we've given him and the money the UK gives, is that it's a grant from the U.S. and a loan from the UK.

And it's all about who profits from the war....

Quote from: Jeff on March 03, 2025, 03:23 AMZelensky acts like a coke addict.

I don't know why people have to do this kind of stuff...is he, isn't he, I sure as hell don't know...I am going to stick to what I can and as such I digress on further comment there.

His demeanor....he appeared agitated right from the get go, I will not guess as to the why or any secondary motive, I just note that he was apparently agitated.

During the event, you can clearly see, he's turning his head and rolling his eyes at different points in time while Trump is speaking, "apparently" not agreeing with the words. This seems evident every time he speaks. His belief would seem to be diametrically opposed to the US stance. I'll hold on diving further into that for the moment.

JD Vance....I know most won't agree here, I know the audience, he should have shut his mouth, he did not. VP's in that kind of setting should generally be seen and not heard, it is his role to support and defer to the President.

Zelensky was already agitated, as it is obvious he is not ready to stop fighting and does not agree with any peace plan, a further discussion can be had on his reasons and the realities of the situation.

Vance used the word diplomacy and that was seemingly Zelinsky's last straw, "What kind of diplomacy" and while his question IS 100% valid, the real problem is that conversation should have remained behind closed doors. It's fair to ask why he chose to make his stand there on live TV. Believe me, I have heard several "theories" as none of them can present any actual "proof" I'll stick to what we could see.

Z asked a very pointed question, that should not have been asked in that place at that time, it is simply NOT how  "Nation State" level conversations take place. At that point he did become verbally combative, Vance for the most part wisely stepped back and Trump came in....again, we're in waters we should not likely have been in at that point, so the gloves are off....What Trump said to him in regards to the real world situation Ukraine finds itself in were raw, tough and you can agree un-presidential. He however was responding to a "State" leader who already crossed the "diplomatic" Rubicon.

The pictures, the demeanor, the tone, it was all apparently for effect. For Zelensky, I don't think it worked out the way he thought it would, he made a terrible miscalculation. I don't know if he was coached or if it was all him...there are some interesting stories out there, they are however only a correlation. As many of us understand, correlation does not always equal causation, so for now, lacking more information, I'll leave it at "interesting".

Is Russia the aggressor? Yes
Has Russia broke multiple signed agreements? Yes
Has Russia entered into Ukrainian sovereign territory multiple times? Yes

So I 100% get why Zelensky is looking for "security."

NATO has been expanding eastward, so much so that they are now on Russia's borders. Russia and in particular, Putin has a disdain for NATO. Though it's unlikely to happen now, another country on his border flipping to NATO, not something he wants.

Ukraines reality is such that, they need to sue for peace, simply put, they cannot win and to continue and look to ramp up against Russia risks WW3. To paraphrase Trump, they don't hold the cards.

Now it comes down to, what does that peace look like? What does Ukraine give up to Russia, what does Ukraine get from the West?

The West simply cannot keep throwing money down this hole, it isn't good for any nation. There may come a day where WW3 has to be fought but that day is not today and it doesn't need to be over this patch of land. This patch of land though, need to stand and we need to find a way to let that happen.

The big question most are not even considering, is not who brokers that peace, no, it is who keeps' that peace because it cannot be Russia or Ukraine.

At the end of the day, Zelensky needs to go as well...the risk there is Russia working to install a satellite puppet.

Don't forget, when the Soviet Union broke up, the West promised Ukraine security in exchange for giving up their nuclear
weapons. Like all promised from the West, it wasn't worth the paper it was printed on.

Yes, I did look deeper into that as I have quoted it...sure, it was a signed agreement, it was however, not a "Treaty"..it was nothing that was ever brought before the US Senate and ratified.

I agree though, Russia, also a signatory, has broken that agreement several times and US technically hasn't broken it, we have certainly provided much but no where in that document does it require "defense"

I disagree.
Vance did the right thing here. Zelensky was constantly talking over Trump and he stepped in.
AND he is letting him know that the next POTUS isn't taking his shit either.

It's pretty clear they (U.S. - Ukraine) should have had many meetings to get a lot of things straightened out and agreed upon before having a newscast.

https://nypost.com/2025/03/01/opinion/dems-lead-zelensky-ukraine-off-a-cliff-with-pressure-to-reject-mineral-deal/

QuoteBefore meeting President Trump, Zelensky met with anti-Trump Democrats who advised him to reject the terms of the mineral deal that the president was offering, according to Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.).

"Just finished a meeting with President Zelensky here in Washington. He confirmed that the Ukrainian people will not support a fake peace agreement where Putin gets everything he wants and there are no security arrangements for Ukraine," Murphy's office posted on X at 11:15 a.m. Friday.

He attached a picture of Zelensky at a conference table, with Murphy seated on the opposite side.

Was he coached?
Yes, and poorly.

And before the naysayers even start 'fact-checking', that X post from Senator Murphy is 100% legit.
Murphy is quick to give advice on what Zelensky should NOT do.
Great.

OK, then what is his alternative plan?
He doesn't have one.
He is blatantly using Zelensky as a pawn to try to derail Trump's effort to see this war ended, which is beyond despicable conduct for a U.S. Senator.

If Trump or Vance didn't wear a suit to that meeting you'd be all over it calling it unprofessional.
