Yes and No
that handle only works one way
the windows went down but never came back up
The bright side is you don't have the scrape the snow and ice off them in the winter

There are many reasons for it.
Due to EPA fuel mileage mandates cars get lighter and more easily damaged every year.
Cars are also way more expensive, cost way more to repair and are more frequently written off as a total loss.

This is especially true of EV's. Minor crashes that damage battery packs
result in $100K+ cars being written off as total losses because
the auto repair industry does not know how to repair them.
and
as anyone who has owned a Tesla knows, the wait for parts can stretch out years.

and

here in Cali, the laws are written by lawyers to enrich lawyers, so they are always looking
for new ways to get their greedy fingers into deep pockets.

40% of wrecks in Cali involve uninsured drivers so uninsured driver premiums are way up
and
If an insured car and an uninsured car get in a wreck, the insured car can be held responsible
for all the damage and injuries for both cars and all passengers, regardless of fault.

I think the Kali rates are high due to workaholics submarining in lake Francis.

Quote from: YoDoug on February 17, 2025, 08:35 AMWe got our latest update for car insurance. I am just blown away at how they just keep raising rates. We have had two claims since 2020, no tickets.
Claims or tickets are no longer accounting for as large a chunk of the rate... for the most part. It's about the costs to repair/total and/or litigate. And loyalty doesn't count for as much as it used to either.

With the rather large disasters of late (hurricane last year and Kommieforniastan fires this year), a LOT of vehicles were totaled.

It all goes into the calculus unfortunately.

I went 20 years without a ticket or claim yet the rates kept increasing.

Until such time as you need it or you lose everything you have because you're sued into oblivion.

I saw one person post a meme and while I might not get this exact, the paraphrasing is close enough to get their meaning

"If you don't have an insurance claim, at the end of the year you should get everything back you paid"

Little is their understanding that if insurance worked "that" way, you simply wouldn't have a single insurance company in business.

Insurance is a hedge, if something happens to you, your insurance assumes the financial portion...if you don't have a claim, someone else does and the insurance company uses that pool of paid in money to pay others claims just like it does if you have a claim.

In NH you "can" drive without insurance as long as there is no lien on your vehicle. It is however illegal to get into an accident and if you do, you will lose your license until you post a bond large enough to cover the damages to the other's property.

You bond is refunded when you pay the claim in full.

They're all a scam.

State Farm and American Family take their top employees on an all paid vacation some years. Very lavish cruises to all inclusive resorts and they are allowed to take their whole families. Nice perk but you take the down side of when you are filing a claim and are due what you've paid and "they can justify it" for some reason or other......

Tends to make you feel a little differently about the costs.

I was with a good insurance company for decades. 12 years ago I totaled my ford explorer after pulling out in front of van doing 60. My insurance company paid me a good price and barely raised my insurance premiums.

Then a lady hit me head on and totaled my truck. My insurance company gave me a good price on the truck within 3 days. They also got me back my $500 deductible.  Then they raised the crap out of my homeowner insurance and I found a much cheaper policy for house and car.
