My grandkids are both home schooled they are active in a homeschooling cooperative called classic conversations. Not only can they read well, but they are also learning to read and write Latin as well. At age 10 my oldest grandson who is protestant, understands prayers in the catholic church that I don't

It depends on the Teacher.

My ex let her son 16 quit high school cause "She could do better"

He lost a year in school and his laptop was filled with Asian Porn.

I forced him to go back to school.

At Graduation they gave him an empty tube because he hadn't completed his work.

And they didn't want him to feel Bad. :(

He's a smart Kid but his Mom made him feel stupid. >:(

She let her oldest drop out too.

I forced him to get his GED it was and is the only accomplishment in his Life.

He's 34 in and out of jail. and has had 2 jobs that lasted 6 months each. :(

She put him in jail last November after he smashed the windows in her Car and peed all over her doorbell cam. ;D

Homeschool Co-ops are a great way as a parent to get the homeschool experience without the feeling you're all alone. We had some friends that went the all alone route they didn't last 2 full years. They said a co-op was "cheating". Ooooookaaaayyyyy... if you say so.

Our 3rd son... homeschooled K-12. Has a Homeschool diploma and a GED amd is an Eagle Scout. Works at a Wal-Mart distribution center in Oregon. He's a Sr. Level Facility Manager... not positive what his actual title is, but he's pulling down 6 figures and is 27.

The main point of the post was to highlight Public School is NOT the be-all and end-all of educational possibilities.  Statistics vary widely; as little as 5% and as many as 25% of US High School Grads are functionally illiterate. So let's give them the benefit of the doubt and say it's 5%. That's roughly 165,000 people graduating high school that are functionally illiterate. Every. Single. Year. :coffee:

These are the people that want complete control of our kids.

If anywhere near that many illiterate kids came out of homeschool they'd make it illegal. I guarandamntee it.
