Now that I don't have to worry about "work nights" anymore it's opened up a lot of worry free week nights I can take advantage of. This year there are quite a few good shows coming to town so I'm going to take advantage. A lot of the bands I like from the old days aren't touring anymore so I do enjoy going to tribute band shows. Even the "real" bands that still play, like Kansas for instance, only have a couple of the original members so they're pretty much tribute bands anyway.

A couple more things I like about tribute bands: They play the music faithfully and the price is very good, at least by today's standards. I shudder to think of what Pink Floyd would charge if they toured again.

On the schedule so far:
Brit Floyd (Pink Floyd tribute)
Get the Led Out (Led Zeppelin tribute)
Australian Pink Floyd (Pink Floyd tribute)
3 dog night/Little river band
The Turtles play 70s hits

I'll likely go to Robin Trower and Chicago also. Paul Simon is going to be at a smaller venue this summer and I would really like to see him but tickets are going for $500 or up so that's not happening!

Don't the Doobie Brothers still play?

I used to go to concerts several times a year. Now I'm a lot more picky. It cost so much now that I want to make sure it's something I really want to see. That, and I have a hard time staying up late.  :D

The last concerts I went to were my g/f's picks. She wanted to see Candlebox play with their original lineup.  I wouldn't have chose that concert myself but I didn't regret going.  The other she picked was Slash and The Conspirators  with Myles Kennedy singing.  It was an alright show, but how many 15 minute guitar solo's can a person stand?

I did take her to see In Flames a couple of times Once with the band Red in a small venue in Seattle, and the other in a more arena sized venue.  She liked it more than I thought.

Larry, I've seen two concerts in KC.

In 1975, I saw Rory Gallagher, Todd Rundgren, Robin Trower and Jethro Tull. Great Concert.

In 1988 I saw Pink Floyd.

My last concert was Alice Cooper last August. There is something disconcerting about seeing a bunch of gray haired senior citizens lined up to by concert t-shirts.

When I saw Kansas a few years ago I met a woman I worked with on the way to my seat, up in the front. She told me she looked for me in the audience but everybody had a bald head so we all looked the same.

The good thing about going to an old guy concert is you don't have to stand thru the whole show. :)

I saw Alice for the first time about 5 years ago, at the Kauffman center for performing arts. Great show, Alice was one of my favorites growing up!

My first concert was Grand Funk Railroad, I believe in 1973.

Alice Cooper was my first ever concert. It was his Schools Out tour. He got hung then instead of the guillotine. I also saw him in 2019. He's probably tied with Black Sabbath for my favorite.

I told my wife I had a floor seat for the last one. She was worried about mosh pits. I told her we were to old and paid too much money for that stuff.

Grand Funk in 1973 would have been awesome. Their live album was the first hard rock album I got. They sold out Shea Stadium faster than the Beatles.

I used to hang out with Robin Trowers' niece a bit back in college. Don't remember her name but I do remember she had nice jugs.

I think that the bluegrass music we've been playing in Nursing homes is about to go out of style, quickly.
