For a long time I have been planning for my next vehicle to be a crew cab truck. Specifically, a Toyota Tundra. Preferably a platinum or 1794 edition. What can I say, Ima bougie bitch. I also would need the good ole V8.

Sadly, the newest generation of Tundra seem to have shit the bed and nobody is trading their old trucks in. Those looking to sell seem to value them at somewhere near their weight in gold, especially if they are under 100K miles.

Late last year, when shopping to replace the wife's car, I was discussing the Tundra situation with the Lexus salesman. He said they occasionally take one in on trade and that he'd keep an eye out.

Fast forward to last Friday and he calls and says, found your truck.

I'm like, no way. A 2021 platinum Tundra with under 100K miles?

He's like, not exactly. It's a 2021 Ram 1500 Limited Night Edition.

I'm like, I don't want a Dodge.

He's like, it's Ram. They're not Dodge trucks anymore.

I'm like, it'll always be a Dodge to me.

He's like, come look at it, drive it, then tell me you don't like it.

So I did. I didn't tell him but I didn't like it, I fuckin loved it. It's like driving a BMW 750IL or a Benz S class. It's smooth, quiet, crazy amount of room, excellent seats, including heat/cool seats both front and rear. I recently drove a Lexus GX SUV on a test drive with the wife. We both though it was the nicest vehicle we'd driven. The Ram shits on that thing. It makes the Tundras I've been in feel like a truck from the 80s.

The Lexus dealer is one of those, 'no haggle price', dealers. Well I haggled the fuck out them, something I honestly HATE doing. We agreed on a $$$ and I drove it home.

While I do love it, I'm not delusional. It ain't a Toyota/Lexus. After reading up on the common issues these trucks experience, it will be the first vehicle I purchase an extended warranty for. Nothing in the powertrain scares me. But the amount of electrical gremlins reported, especially related to all tech stuff, is concerning.

We've had a foot of snow and several days of 30+MPH wind since I got it. The drifts on my road have been insane. This thing in 4Auto with BFG Trail Terrains gets around even better than my Audi on Blizzaks. Even drove it off road a bit to show up the kid in his old, jack up Tundra.

While black is never my first choice, the blacked out trim and badges(the night edition package) on black paint looks pretty sweet.

BOOOOOO on the Ram, but I get it.  Nice rig!

You're right about the last gen Tundra's being worth gold.  I have a 2015 - 1794 V8 Tundra and I will never part ways with it.  Goes as fast as you want to each gas station...

Guess I shouldn't jinx it, but my co-workers new loaded out Ram with 900 miles on it - in the shop  :-\  Doesn't seem major though.
