Quote from: DUM1 on March 12, 2025, 06:11 AMhow do you know what the cholesterol level is supposed to be? the "science" changes every few years it seems.
same with blood pressure.
more of what's killing people then the diet hypertension due to stress, work your ass off day and night and get taxed into poverty, never ending taxes till the day you die.

Actually there is plenty of data that has remained very similar over the years when it comes to cholesterol. The original article I linked to discussed the meat industry misinformation campaigns to confuse this issue.

So, your body produces LDL cholesterol. Are we to believe your studies saying that's bad? What your body creates....is bad????????

Quote from: YoDoug on March 11, 2025, 12:01 PMMost people will easily believe big pharma is corrupt and puts profits over health. They will believe many other industries are the same as well. However, when it comes to meat industries, they must have rose colored glasses. They just want to picture every burger started as happy cattle out in a field grazing and cholesterol is good. The truth is, there is a campaign of hundreds of millions of dollars to misinform people to keep them eating meat even though the truth is well known. Article below.

It really makes me wonder, do you guys get your glasses at the same place Smit does? Do you have to order the specific truths you want rose colored? Can you order dual or triple purpose lenses if you want to ignore all kinds of truths.

Not at all, the truth is in a normal functioning body your liver and brain produce all the cholesterol it needs. Adding extra dietary cholesterol is where the problem happens.

Edit, Dietary cholesterol alone is not the only driving factor of heart disease. Excess saturated fats will cause the liver to produce more cholesterol. Smoking, alcohol, drugs have a role as well. Exercise, BMI also playa role. However the mechanism by which excess free cholesterol in the blood stream cause plaque build up in arteries is well known.

Your brain is made up of braincells, not cholesterol. The brain is the highest energy consuming organ in the body. Thus it's needs for cholesterol are higher than most other cells in the body. However feel free to google blood brain barrier. Your brain synthesizes it's own cholesterol. If your blood brain barrier is deficient and free cholesterol from your body is getting into your brain your risk for stroke goes up exponentially.

Google keto brain fog. That is one of the listed side effects of keto.

I have to lean on Doug for this one.

Had my semi- annual Physical and Blood work yesterday.

Fuck!! >:(

Combined with the ultra sound.

I have Fatty Liver (non alcoholic)

Sooo No more Carbs , No more alcohol , Starting tomorrow. >:(

Blood pressure was good. But Glucose was through the roof.

Might have been that Big Bowl of Cap'n Crunch cereal I ate night before at bedtime. ;D

So a dietary change is needed.

I have replaced potatoes and Rice with Riced cauliflower.

No sugars allowed.

The alcohol is Not a Problem But I'm gonna miss that $100,000 dollar bar or Heath Bar in Bed.

I can see why Doug went MMA.

Cause I would Love to kick someone's Ass.

Anywho !! "Que Sera" keep throwin those recipes Doug ....Please??

Not all carbs are the same. Whole food unprocessed plant carbs are good. AKA fruit and veggies. Refined, processed carbs are not. The trick I was told is when you are buying packaged food ( bread, etc.) is look at the ratio of total carbs to dietary fiber. The higher the ratio the more processed and refined those carbs are. Optimal is 5:1 or less. 10:1 is not too bad. When you buy bread or other grains look for whole grain that ahs a good ratio.

Pfizer makes Lipitor. They generate about 2 billion dollars worldwide from annual sales. Keto diets raise blood LDL levels. It would be against their shareholders interest for them to oppose keto diets.
