So apparently there were some legs to that leaked memo.

"Significant changes will be coming for Social Security recipients starting on March 31.

Millions of Americans will no longer be able to verify their identity over the phone, creating a challenge for older Americans and those with disabilities."

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Del.

If you have never paid into SS you cannot draw SS. However you may be eligible to draw off your spouse.

SS is the only government program that has been FULLY funded since its inception. It's a wonderful thing.

It will likely be hardest for the people who live in rural areas.

You know, Trump voters.

But yeah, fuck 'em.  :hrhr:

All this pearl clutching is just delicious.

These people are the same people claiming black people can't get official government ID's therefore nobody needs ID to vote.

Instead of sending fraudsters through the wood chipper with the pedos, murderers, and rapists, we're gonna get all indignant about the government trying to protect the US Treasury fkr a change?

I mean, you could use the "punishing law abiding citizens" argument?  In this case your talking about peoples livelihood.

I read something the other day saying that the amount of money in fraud they *might* uncover is unlikely to add up to the cost of implementing these changes. Don't quote me on that. I'd have to dig the article back up. Who knows..  I guess we'll see?

I liked when he said, we beat Medicare and Trump said, yeah you beat it to death. 😂

Quote from: MIL-TFP-41 on March 20, 2025, 02:37 PMSocial security a shitty system dependent on people dying before they can collect. Prove me wrong.

You're right. Life expectancy was certainly shorter when SS was implemented.

Quote from: Rstewart on March 20, 2025, 10:04 AMYou said you didn't see me chiming in.... okay  I don't let politics have any affect on my mental wellbeing.  People would be a lot better off by not constantly lookin for rage bait posts.
Apparently, it really does a number on some.

Yes, esp the disabled, veteran community, or anybody deserves to get what they've paid into.
I'm saying don't DEPEND ON THE GOV to save your ass.

END Income tax and let people decide if they wanna use that for retirement - Don't make me pay into something.

Many people do prefer to stick their heads in the sand and not pay attention to what's happening in their country. Hey, whatever works for you man. There's a lot of that going around, you're not alone.

IMHO it would be best if those people wouldn't vote but they do. :(

Right off the top of my head, Somalia and Afghanistan don't have income taxes. Google will likely bring up many more. The infrastructure there is probably less than what you're accustomed to though.

I don't think they even care about those people any more.

Punishing Law Abiding Citizens.... I've been punished for others' misdeeds since I first became a firearms owner in 1989 so pardon my "welcome to the club, sucks doesn't it" attitude.

I sympathize, but at the same time I seriously question the pearl clutchers and their sky is falling trope.

The reality is there is more fraud and abuse they are willing to admit to.... aaaaaand it all happened under their watch. IMHO THAT is why the sky is falling this time. Do I have proof? Of course not. But I can't trust one fucking thing entrenched Bureaucrats and politicians say, especially Democrats. Those lying Sacks of shit lie for the sake of lying because they know their sheep, and their sheep say "vote blue no matter who" so there are no consequences.
