one of our customers hired that plane to fly one of our parts, a 50 ton compressor housing to one of the 'stans
from San Diego about 10 years ago.
It's a shame that plane was destroyed, it was an engineering masterpiece.

I had a walk around and went inside at an airshow years ago - ladder to climb up to the cockpit etc.
Yes, it's a shame the 'ol bird was destroyed. Like most planes, I admire them but don't like flying in them.

I heard a rumor when I worked at Mori Seiki in the mid-90's that a customer hired them to fly a machine from Japan to the US. They needed it in a day not 14 days on the water plus customs, plus everything else. No way to verify. Badass if it's true.
