Quote from: Jeff on July 24, 2025, 11:05 AMTalk to Jerome Powell about that. He's deliberately keeping the interest rate high.
And Powell is getting sued because of it from what I understand.
Azoria CEO wants the Supreme Court to block the meeting from being a "closed door meeting".

Jerome Powell threaded the needle on a potentially catastrophic economic landing post-covid. At this point I trust his bench more than anyone else in politics. Maybe he's keeping the interest rate where it is because of daily Tariff fluctuations?!?!

FWIW %4-5 isn't 'high'

Well , on the plus side. You only have 3-1/2 more years to whine and Cry and immiserate.

And then you can again vote 3rd party and lose. 8)

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Ehh, don't worry about that one so much. It's an international racket that goes directly to the landfill.

Your contributions to giving us vagrants here a place to air our concerns is keeping this discourse out of the mainstream, and for that you are a daily hero to those who may not even know it. You may consider that an act of public service!

That's what I keep telling my g/f.  She still gives me dirty looks. :D

They ran a story on our local news that explained how much of our recycling ends up in the land fill. It's like, what's the point?

In Canada we were able to sell it to China/India for awhile. Truck it to the west coast, put it on containers and have it incinerated overseas for cheaper than actual recycling plants here. That's how much the contracts are worth. Then those countries said "Saar, no more garbage of you", and now we put it in the landfill. But the municipality will tell you otherwise, of course.

I've been thinking of putting a gps tracker in a garbage bag, and one in a tuna can and see if they end up in the same place. My revolutionary streak dies down after a few hours though, lol.

Lowering prescription drug prices if that even pans out,
and closing the border.

Uh... Didn't you hear about this? If he does nothing else in his term, I will call it a success based on this alone...

I have one of those old dirt bike gas cans from the 80's.  I haven't bought a new gas can in 20 years and I bought this thing used.

My old man was an OTR trucker for 30+ years. He picked up every stray gas can laying alongside the road that he saw.

He must have a couple hundred in his shed.

When he pulls on out to use it, he throws out the sucky EPA approved nozzle and puts a straight hose on them. He also drills a vent hole and installs a valve stem from a semi tire for a vent.
