Does the same go with seat belts? I don't know of any states that don't have seat belt laws.

I feel the same way about helmet laws. It shouldn't be a law, imo.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

There's no helmet law for motorcycles here in Utah either AFAIK. I think that's good. It's called personal responsibility. Myself, I would NEVER ride a motorcycle without one. I'm dumb... not stupid.

I think seat belts for the vehicle operator should not be legislated for drivers 18 and older.  However, minors operating the vehicle or riding as a passenger, should be legally required to be restrained appropriately since they are not old enough to make their own decision.

I have a crazy uncle out east who swears seatbelts have always been a government conspiracy to make the population docile and submissive to the whims of the elite. I've never seen him use one, so at least he's committed.

Son in law's dad refuses to wear one because he's scared to be trapped by one inside a burning car.

I never wore one until in 1990 a guy pulled out in front of me going 60mph and I t-boned him.
Totaled my brand new car. My brake pedal was stuck to the floorboards I mashed it so hard.
Not sure how fast I was going when I hit him, probably 30-40,but my car ended up in the median facing the opposite direction and I was unconscious for a couple minutes.
A small knot on my forehead and scraped up knees that's about it.

Tell him not to worry about that. The blunt force trauma to his chest will render him unconscious and he won't feel a thing.

When I was 16... my good friend at the time Matt, his dad died in a car accident (not wearing a seat belt) and his passenger (wearing a seat belt) crawled out of the car and walked away. The accident was totally survivable. I've been a believer ever since... for ME.

That said, if someone does not want to wear one, that's on them and as a society, we should be OK with their choice.

My oldest son is a Sheriff... he NEVER wears one, despite the statistical evidence that proves he is far more likely to die in a vehicular accident than he is trapped in a vehicle and ambushed.

"Trapped" inside a burning car... meaning you're conscious while being consumed by fire. While tragic, highly, Highly, HIGHLY unlikely. Those are death by shark attack statistics I'll bet.

I never wore a seat belt until I had kids.  It was hard for me to tell them they had to wear one or be strapped in a child seat if I didn't wear one. (And they let me know) Now, it's just muscle memory when I get in a car.

I always wear a seat belt (my car won't shut up ringing if I don't).

So where's the inflation from tariffs? All the experts ridiculing Trump. Trump was right, up to this point. Let's see what the July CPI and PPE numbers are.
