so new young buck tells the old fukn guy we can mill 304 at 6000 and 60 and I'm like so 900 ss hmm?
okay , , ,  how about we start at like 200 ss and see? nope
still smokin end mills lowest he would go is 4200 at 45"
so I look up the mill on the old intranet and there it is 265 ss ,
 right there, plain sight,

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Not a cheap tool to make an example out of... RIP

Tell him to use whatever feeds and speeds he wants, but he has to pay for cutters that don't make an ROI.

I worked for a shop that had a "first one is free, you pay for the next" policy if you wanted to test something out that you weren't absolutely sure of.

so after 4 e mills ... I just got him to ull up the helical sight and show me where he got his numbers,
hi efficiency calculator says 60000 and 60 but then pops up a warning these feeds and speeds could be dangerous to the tool and material yada yada, he just clicks it without reading the warnings 2x
then I have him pull up the ss of the tool and material where it says 265ss he's like OHh? huh ?
KIDS !
meanwhile, a job that should have taken A DAY is a week in and 5x 5/8" emills and 4x 1/2" emills toast

funnier part is that we run the same tool in another part same material same type dynamic tool path and I told him at the start their running it at 929 at 25" lasts over 250 minutes ...

Reminds me of the time a guy ran a crane into the machine.

My machine is very big; Z can go almost up to the ceiling. It has a proximity alarm that goes off when the crane gets to close. A guy on 2nd just kept driving on with the crane and hit the machine. He was from another building and said "oh, we don't ever pay attention to those".
