It will make you an expert...

A guy at work here ran into the 14' bay door that was half open one spring day with the hi-lo. Dunno how he couldn't see it.
He's now known as Crash.

so, the compromise, half the paths the tool does on the part are ss 475 @ 60" = 3500 rpm W/.0035 pr tooth,
and ss 700 @ 60" = 4200 rpm W/.0028 pr tooth  not terrible so far but there are 3 different parts 60 of each to make...
might be able to make it through a "full boat" 6 part at a time of 3 separate parts on the tombstone if I can get him to settle on the 475 ss I would probably run it at 265 ss and 30" 1600 x.004 pr tooth  :rtfm:

did I mention the kid never verified / simulated all three and I save him three separate instances of catastrophic failure?
had to switch sides of 2 of 3 fixtures

We were recently running some 17-4 PH 1075 and we were getting 35-40 parts using the speeds (650 sf) and feeds ( 46 ) from helicals machine advisor pro.  Rep stopped by and he recommended a much lower ( 400 sf ) and much Higher ( 128 feed rate ) now we are getting over 125 parts per tool.

How was the cycle time affected?

went from 9 min to 3.5 min on that path.  Both were using the same .030 step over. so it was a win win.... Now other programmers want the Rep to share where he came up with those numbers and why machine advisor pro wasn't much of a pro on that one.

My Sandvik rep gave me an office doc to do this.
I've found it to be REALLY good for the dynamic paths. I do change one thing though, I go full flute depth instead of the 2xD they recommend. Ain't nobody got time for that!
I'd attach it, but I don't think we can upload files.

DM me the doc and I'll create a link for it to share.

You *should* be able to attach files. It's just a little convoluted.  I don't think it can be done using the quick reply.

Anyone who's made it to the "Legend" status on the forum should have the ability to attach files.

Keep in mind that I go in and clean them out occasionally so they don't take up too much space.

I do try to keep any files that are important but depending on the number of attachments I have to go through, it's possible that I could removing something I shouldn't by accident.
