My brother sent me a text telling me that his Cologuard test came back positive.

He's going to get a colonoscopy to check it out, but we both agreed it was probably a false positive.

I asked him "Just in case it's not, can I have your tools?"

He said sure.

I wish my brother was cool.

Hope all is well in the end!

I didn't say he was cool.

I told the operator yesterday as I was leaving to go get an injection in my shoulder that old age isn't for sissies.

I just did one of these not long ago. It came back negative, but it was probably one of the most uncomfortable voluntary experiences I've had in my own home.

I'm glad you only have to do them every three years.  I've never done the camera snake though I feel like I probably should at some point just to be 100% sure.

I just did my colonoscopy. He found three polyps but only one was precancerous. I've been getting them every year but now he says I can go two years.

Guys (gals?)-I get it that most folks don't like the idea of a colonoscopy, but the worst part of it all is probably the prep....drinking that stuff to "clean you out." Aside from that it's not that big a deal, and from what I understand, nearly *all* cancers start off as polyps. Catch those early (during the procedure) and nip 'em out and you're good to go. I just had one last fall and they found a couple of little ones; my next procedure is in 7 years according to the doc.

A fellow who works in the same complex as me had a number of symptoms for quite some time, was first diagnosed with diverticulosis, still had symptoms, they recommended a colonoscopy and found cancer....surgery + chemo and he's fine now, but I wonder if they could have caught it sooner?

Please just do it-it's not that bad!

My first colonoscopy after I turned 50 revealed colon cancer. No family history. It was early enough that it hadn't spread but I lost my transverse colon. No chemo or radiation. If my doctor's nurse practitioner hadn't strongly suggested it, I probably wouldn't have done it.

it's not for sissies, but the good news is, it doesn't last long.

I had my rectal probe from my Urologist yesterday. My PSA had suddenly gone up some. He felt a nodule on my prostate and was going to schedule a biopsy. Called today and my PSA had dropped so I don't have to do it now. Still have to get an MRI and CT scan. Wasn't looking forward to biopsy and catheter to look at bladder. I have a doctor for every body part now.

At 40 I've already had 3 colonoscopy.  The prep is by far the worst part.  I would like to do the cologuard, but I'm in the higher risk category, so no go.

mowens

The worst part for me is having to go on a liquid diet a day or two before the procedure. If I don't do that, the prep is not as effective.
