Quote from: Bucky Cornstarch on May 06, 2025, 05:21 AMYou know damn well it has nothing to do with the law with these people. Trump has been convicted of actual felonies and they don't give a shit. The only thing that they care about is that their hero is taking actions against the same irrational fears, hatreds, and prejudices they hold dear, and are watching slip away.

But Trump!

Reality fix.

They don't seem like they are a very fact based news source.

I have to change my answer on that.  Based on what I've read, these guys get a lot of negative reviews for their anti-gay rights views. And their support for things like conversion therapy.  yikes. It doesn't look like they have a fact based reporting problem. It's more of a 'I want to shove our religious beliefs down your throat' thing.

I *did* look up the statement from College of the Ozarks. As you know, I'm not a religious man. :D  But if what I'm reading is true, I think it's messed up that an administration would harass (I say harass because that's what it feels like they're doing) a religious school over something this trivial. I don't feel like this is an apples to apples comparison to what Trump is doing now, but in my opinion, pretty repulsive.

Had to recant all of that as well. It looks like the Biden admin wasn't going after that school at all. The school, along with the ADF, sued the Biden admin.  :headscratch:

The case went in front of the Supreme Court and they refused to hear it. Any idea why?

The statement I read:

"We do not intend to change our course in offering housing for our students. We offer men's dorms and women's dorms, and those will remain separate. We will not allow men in women's private dorm rooms or shower spaces. We will protect our female students. Most importantly, we will continue to stand for religious liberty in this country and will lead that charge. In the long run, we believe our commitment to stand for religious liberty will be to the benefit of all religious colleges and universities. The contest for religious liberty is not over, and we must remain vigilant. The College will continue to stand for its biblical values and for the religious liberties upon which this nation was founded."

"The petition notes that, "The [HUD] Directive forces the College to choose immediately between three injuries: (1) obey the government and abandon the College's religious policies and speech; (2) refuse the government and risk crippling investigations and penalties; or (3) cease providing student housing."

I assume by that statement, they were trying to force the school to allow trans kids in to dorms that don't reflect their biological sex based on a new "HUD directive"?

The Arizona case sounds like a cluster-F?  The government sued and then there was also a class action lawsuit filed by students?

My take on it was less about "trans", and more about forcing an institution to allow co-habitation which goes against their strongly held beliefs. I could be wrong.

#2 sounds like lawfare... something the left excels at. "Do what we want or we'll sue you into oblivion".

The left: "Our ideas are shit, therefore we'll find a Court Jester that agrees with us and we'll fuck you up!"

I can't actually find where the Biden admin went after this school at all. It looks more like the school and the ADF went after the Biden admin for an EO that changed the HUD directive. I don't think that they were forced to do, or were punished for not doing, anything.  It sounds like a pre-emptive strike?

QuoteCollege of the Ozarks took exception to HUD's interpretation and sued in April 2021.

But lower courts sided with the federal government, ruling the college did not have standing to sue, partially because the Biden administration never attempted to bring an anti-discrimination complaint against the institution.

No, they just wanna get into the pants of the little kids.

Seriously, you don't have an issue with a dude undressing in a girl's locker room?
Or a dude competing against women in a woman's sport?
If you can't see the problem with that, then you're a part of the problem.
