Quote from: Del. on May 12, 2025, 11:30 AMStopped it dead in its tracks.

I read an article that said 5 immigrants were allowed through our southern border in April of this year
as opposed to 68 thousand in April of last years.

We have stopped the invasion, but we are failing to remove the invaders.
Many of these invaders will be voting in 2028 as blue states are doing their best to get them registered to vote.
There is no question how they will vote, so the Dem's plan to dilute red state voters with illegal immigrants will succeed in the long run.

I must be crazy also because I can't think of any other reason to allow so many to just walk into the country.

Weren't all of these illegals already here during the last election?   :headscratch:

You said illegals "should get due process because it's in the Constitution". Fair enough. They should be able to own firearms too. .. because it's in the constitution.  Or are yiu just picking stuff illegals can have?

You're trying to make an argument that doesn't exist. This thread is about the suspension of habeas corpus.

I didn't say due process for illegals is in the constitution. I said the idea that only citizens are afforded due process is not in the constitution.

Quote from: neurosis on May 12, 2025, 08:15 AMIt depends on how you look at it. Do you believe that second amendment rights are subject to reasonable regulations?
It says "shall not be infringed" so no. There are no "reasonable" anythings in that statement.

So, illegals either have constitutional rights or they do not. I do not believe they do. So habeas corpus should nkt even apply to them. Treat them humanely, but get them out. They do not belong here.

Either they deserve or get due process.or they do not. They should not be afforded due process... ESPECIALLY since they violated the legal process to come here in the first place.

I am not smart enough to understand the distinction you're making between getting and afforded.

If an illegal alien is accused of a capital crime, should they get a trial or should we just kill them?

My concern with the suspension of due process is really not for illegal aliens per se. It is for 20 or 30 years from now when the population have become desensitized to the idea of the suspension of civil rights and it starts being used on other groups of people. Because it will happen if this continues. Look how accepting we are now of constant surveillance.

Welcome to gun ownership. They've been taking our rights away since the 1920's and nary a concern for it.

If someone is accused of a capital crime, of course due process should be applied. That's not at issue. The issue as I understand it is illegal aliens crossing several nations in order to gain access to our sovereign nation. Those people should not be afforded any due process for that crime. They came here illegally,  as soon as they are found, send them back.

Has any other prior administration, in our lifetimes, needed to suspend rights in order to deport illegals?

Prior administrations had fewer illegals to deal with.

I don't even seem to recall many complaints about the ATF's summary executions of CITIZENS.

Shit, Obumma deported how many compared to Trump? Clinton? Bush?

The Dems care more about illegals than their own citizens simple because Trump is doing it. It's as simple as that.
It's the same game plan they used from 2016-2020... oppose Trump no matter what. If you think otherwise then you're choosing not to see it.

Did any of those administrations do it illegally?

What are we supposed to expect from a president who can't even say whether he's supposed to uphold the constitution or not?
