it seems to me, that people get confused by the fact that there are 2 separate issues. Bringing manufacturing back to the US and creating jobs. Manufacturing can come back without creating significant jobs in the actual manufacturing. Although as stated earlier, the servicing of robots is a by-product of the manufacturing growth. But that is service jobs, not manufacturing jobs.

So the difference is, when unions talk about increasing manufacturing, they are wanting increased jobs and union membership. But if you hear someone talking about wanting to bring manufacturing back for increased security (because people creating things can with hold it from you) or simply to improve GDP, they are not necessarily talking about job growth. And what further adds to the confusion, is that politicians, including Trump, sell it by promising job growth in the future, to allow for the sacrifices of today. I don't buy that. There may be increased manufacturing, but I'm not sure about significant job growth from it. I really think that job growth will continue to come from the service industry.
