Did Jordan Peterson just wreck his career?

I'm not sure how many of you guys follow anything Jordan Peterson? He had a flaming moment when he went viral over contesting the gender pay gap and then some time later on the gender debate.

He's always sold himself as a modern day intellectual.

He mistakenly agreed to a debate hosted by Jubilee, who does a lot of the 1 vs many debates. This particular debate was called "1 Christian vs 20 atheists". It went so bad, and Jordan couldn't admit to being a Christian, that they had to change the name to "Jordan Peterson vs 20 Atheists | Surrounded"

This Christian aspect of this doesn't really matter unless you care if he's Christian, or even religious. But selling himself as an intellectual?   He couldn't hold his own against a bunch of young atheists.

Ben Shapiro hired him as part of The Daily Wire. I'm curious to see if he will survive this when an unbelievable number of people pay him for his advice and purchase his books.

It's hard to recover when people figure out that you're just a fraud? Well, for some people.  :D

A poor debate performance makes him a fraud as an intellectual?

I have always thought that is dumb debate format. I don't know why anybody would do it.

He has been on the fence of the truth of Christianity for as long as he has been on the public scene. And he has teetered one way or another many times, but he's never come off the fence. It seems like you would admire that to some degree. I have heard that he attends a catholic church with his wife, who is catholic, but he has never joined it. It surprised me when they labeled that debate as 1 christian vs 20 atheists. I wonder if he knew that is what they called it ahead of time.

I do get it. There are a lot of people out there that are worth listening to. Back in the day, you used to have to buy a book (thanks micro). Today, you can just listen to someone who's already read all the books.

I don't get the tik-tok craze where everyone feels as though they deserve everyone's attention.

Jordan stuck himself in the middle of the right wing stratosphere and sold himself as someone having something worthwhile to say. The more you listen to him, the more you realize that he's a little nuts.

It wasn't just a poor debate performance. It exposed his smoke and mirror intellectualism.

I agree. Some people are better at it than others. Being put on the spot isn't a good platform for people who aren't quick thinkers.

I'm pretty sure he knew. How would everyone there know but him? He probably looked at it as a chance to defend a belief in God vs Christianity and didn't consider being called out on the Christianity. But you're right. He's never claimed to be a hard line Christian.

If I actually saw someone walk on water, you wouldn't hear any criticism from me.  :D

He's a fence sitter because he's nuts?

The fact that he doesn't commit to Christianity makes no difference to me. I thought I pointed that out in my original post?   :headscratch:

I get the impression that you never thought he was an intellectual, you've been waiting for proof, and now you think you have it.
