I'd say you need to break into the top 5% of programmers to be relevant employed in the near future. Every codemonkey I know relies on GPT or Grok to keep their job. The number of times I've heard "well I have not written my own code in 6-8 months" is disturbing.

Which actually proves that AI will not be stealing anyone's job.
 People who use AI the best will steal other people's jobs.

Last Tuesday I made an automation interface in C# for the Okuma API for a new pallet loading robot cell I am currently building. I used ChatGPT. Hands down the best interface I have made and far less time than previous interfaces I have made. I have been using GPT to go back and improve my older work. It is not perfect but can save tons of time. When someone figures out how to monetize the teaching of an AI agent on a CNC shops existing program database most CNC programmers will be unemployed.

We have an Amazon TV thingy to talk with the grandkids remotely. I tried to name it HAL so when I say "HAL, do..."... POS wouldn't let me give it that name.

That's some bullshit right there. If I want to call it Jackalope, I shoudl be able to call it Jackalope.

That POS spends 99.9% of it's life unplugged anyway.

I remember when Andrew Yang brought it up during his campaign.  I'm not a fan of most of his policy but was a fan of his honesty as a politician. I remember bringing him up and you skewering Andrew as a socialist.  I understand why (sorta) but he was one of the first politicians I've seen bring this up in an honest way. 

I hate to think that there will ever come a time that we would have to rely on government for a basic income.  What a horrible existence. There may not be a choice at some point?

Have you seen that movie Elysium? Do you think that it would end up looking something like that? Anyone who relies on government assistance fighting for survival is ignored while the wealthy live outside of having to acknowledge their existence?
