Damn.  If this keeps up I'll eventually qualify for public assistance.

"According to the analysis by SmartAsset, a single adult in Washington needs an annual pre-tax salary of $109,657.60 — up 2.97% from $106,496 in 2024 — to cover necessities, discretionary spending and savings under the 50/30/20 budget rule."

"WA families face steep income gains

By the numbers:

Working families of four in Washington now need $277,888 per year — nearly 8% higher than the $257,421 estimated in 2024 — to afford housing, groceries, transportation and long-term goals."

"Nationwide, singles must earn $5,844 more than a year ago, while families need an extra $9,360 to keep pace with rising costs."

Well someone has to pay for all of the rioting damage that the Governor and police chief allows.

The City of Seattle, insurance companies, and Seattle businesses pay for the riot damage in Seattle. The cost of living, however, isn't limited to the City.

The way I see it, if the people in Seattle want that type of representation, then they get what they deserve. I do feel sorry for the small businesses. Seattle went south when the tech companies became the largest employers in the State.

I've never seen a protester anywhere near where I live, and doubt you would ever see any of that shit going on around that area.

I was just in Seattle (actually Tacoma) the weekend before last. It's beautiful but I could never live there, for a variety of reasons. Mostly, it's way too expensive but, also, too much traffic.

It's actually worse in rural areas. In 2019 in rural MN, little 1000-1200sq ft houses used to go for $30K-50K. Those same houses are now going for $150K-200K, but the jobs in those areas have only gone up a couple dollars per hour. Likewise it has driven rents up. Add in inflation for everything else and It is no better than trying to live in big cities.

Were you stuck in Tacoma the entire time, or were you able to venture out to anywhere else?

I was just there for the weekend to see my granddaughter get her black belt in TKD, so I didn't have a lot of time. I stayed near the Korean neighborhood where the school was in Tacoma. She lives in Steilacoom. Her dad works on the big base near there and we drove around it a little. I had a couple of hours free on Sunday and drove down along the water past Sunnyside beach. It was a clear day with beautiful views of the sound and the big bridge going across the water. Seeing the snow covered mountains in the far distance was spectacular. I had briefly considered retiring there but there's no way I could afford it. Plus, I hate Sea-Tac airport.

How much heroin and cocaine is covered by Washington's "discretionary spendong"? Asking for a friend.

SeaTac airport is almost as bad as shithole as OAK. Offside Rental Cars suck double.

Pretending they're selling off national parks for affordable housing instead of to finance billionaire tax cuts is a good bit
