All I can say is that is most badass thing I've ever witnessed!
Just got back to the hotel off the exercise site on Bragg. We had a system set up for demo to the POTUS. Marine 1 & 2 flew in, landing on the pad. Shortly after the Airborne group and Artillery put on a FULL exercise.
HIMARS shot a full six pack, C17 & C5's dropped 600 Airborne troops, a Fighter dropped a 200lb bomb, and troops line dropped out of a CHINOOK on top of a shoot-house and operated.

I was listening to NPR this morning on the drive in.
They were raving about the National Guard and Marines on the ground in LA
and were interviewing an old retired USMC bird colonel.
He told a story about about the Marines assisting the LAPD during the '92 LA Riots.
LAPD was stacking up to hit a house and asked the Marines to cover them.
They promptly opened up and shot the house to pieces.
LAPD is screaming WTF are you doing, the jarheads replied.. You told us to cover you

I participated in one of those firepower exhibitions back in the late 70s for some visiting congressmen.

Airborne troops parachuting in, air strikes by assault jets, air assault by Cobra gunships, Sheridan tanks, artillary of all sizes, mortars, Vulcan 20mm antiaircraft, infantry firing, jellied gasoline and I'm sure I've left some things out. They threw everything they had into it.

Very impressive.
