If we want to just point fingers and not get all due-processy®  😜 we really need to take a long hard look at the CIA's involvement in foreign affairs in order to truly assign proper responsibility for the players on the world stage today.

Well, let's see... we did awesome in Korea, we did awesome in Vietnam, we did awesome when we rescued the hostages in Iran, we did awesome in Iraq and Afghanistan. 

They are looking at history and taking a calculated  risk. It's not like we fight wars to win anymore. We let the lawyers into the war room. Once that happened, wins are no longer possible. 

We'll make life rough in Iran, but there will be an ENDLESS stream of corn pops oozing over every border imaginable to engage Americans.

The people in charge are fanatics and will fight till the last dog dies.
Israel has been very successful in their efforts to kill Iran's leadership but there is always
another fanatic willing to step up.
 
There is hope however.
The Iranian regime is brutal and much hated by the majority of the population.
The people have risen in revolt twice recently but the revolts were brutally suppressed.
This war will eventually lead to another revolt.
There is video being smuggled out of roof top watch parties, cheering the Israeli air strikes.
That is incredibly brave (and foolish) given the regimes methods for suppressing decent.
There are also videos of the ruling class boarding jets for Europe.
Perhaps this war will be the catalyst for a successful revolt.
However, Israel's war aims are not regime change.
This is about eliminating Iran's nuclear weapons program, and so far that  seems to be progressing nicely.

IMO that is preferred to the current regime which spends it's billions in oil wealth exporting it's fanaticism around the world via terrorism and murder.
