So I have a bunch of aluminum sheet that needs to be taken from a 250ra to a 125ra and the place that stamped them cannot get them done in time on their wide belt sander. I am contemplating taking these home and using my performax thickness drum sander for this. Anyone run aluminum sheet on one of these before? How bad of an idea is it?

I've heard of it being done on various sanders but never tried for myself. I'd be sure you have an appropriate grade sand paper to prevent gum up.

Don't think it would be bad to try on a piece or two, however you may want the boss to approve the possibility of purchasing a new drum if you have a lot.

Turned out there was more time to complete the parts than thought so I won't have to deal with it. I was looking forward to trying it out but I guess I'm ok not dealing with it 😁
