Del.

Am I supposed to worry about military decisions?

Quote from: neurosis on July 09, 2025, 10:16 AMThere are a LOT of things that could go wrong with this, and it could start with something as simple as one of these big tech guys not agreeing with something the US Military is asking them to do.

In actuality, having them as commissioned officers holds them accountable to the chain of command and possible court marshall is they do not follow orders. whereas having them as contractors gives them way more latitude to do what they "feel" is right.

Yes, and do you think they realize the implications of that? OpenAI has a "no harm to others model". When it comes down to loyalty, where is it going to lie?

But TBH, I'm far more worried about Palantir than the rest.
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Damn.
Or... it could just be that as we type replies on our PC, laptop, iPhone or Androud device we know NONE of our data or information is secure.  Not our ideas, not our language, not our social security numbers, NONE of it.

It's not justification, it's just we understand reality so while Jimmies are rustled, we sit back in a more pragmatic position and decide, is this where we draw the line in the sand and go to war against our government, fuck shit up and kill people, or do we accept reality.

I personally haven't figured out exactly where my line is for the most part, but I know for damn sure it ain't some fucking nerds with undeserved  officer commissions...

But that's just me.

  :D  Sorry to laugh at that, but one thing we don't see a lot of on the forum is pragmatism.

That question was actually rhetorical. It's become pretty clear that there is no bridge too far. Not when it's your side running the show. I could say that about the left as well, but uh, lets just say that I've never heard the word "unprecidented" used more in my life than in the last six months.

My comment there was more about the merging of the State and private sector. You can call it whatever you want, but that is about as anti-conservative as it gets. Appointing "some fucking nerds with undeserved  officer commissions... "  I'll put it in Yodougs words " having them as commissioned officers holds them accountable to the chain of command and possible court marshall if they do not follow orders"

So, US corporations forced to follow the orders of the US Military?

Is there any reason that these guys couldn't have just been hired as consultants? And I don't know about you, but I don't believe for a second that Palantir has our best interests at heart.

NONE of those turds have ANY of our best interests at heart.

That is our choice; go to war against our government, or eat the shit sandwich we've allowed them to create for us.

You're right.
People having fun watching cars burn = unprecedented.
The left supporting illegals over U.S. Citizens = unprecedented.
Activist judges blocking almost every move the President makes = unprecedented.
Exposing billions of waste, fraud and abuse = unprecedented.
No tax on tips, no tax on overtime = unprecedented.
