Quote from: mkd on August 01, 2025, 11:56 AMThat's complete BS that a serious condition is just skipped over without verbal explanation.  :realmad:
My 3rd son... when he was 16.... wife took him in. They did a blood test. At the time his blood glucose was over 400. The SFB PA or lab for that matter didn't think it warranted a phone call. Wife takes him to the ER the next day because he's going downhill fast. Blood glucose was over 700. He pegged the glucose meter (only registered to 600 IIRC) it was so high. They had to take it to the hospital lab to get the accurate number. I think 709, or 719... something like that.

Fast forward a day or two, he's still in ICU. I e-mail the doc and ask WTF is wrong with your PA and the lab? He said the lab doesn't call patients about  results, that's the doctor's job. I said well, your PA failed in every way imaginable with my son. ALL she had to do was smell his breath or listen to my wife describe his symptoms and smell his breath. That's like doctoring 101. Obviously a doc doesn't go 100% off the description of symptoms in order to see the full picture, but when someone presents with every single symptom of a T1 diabetic, you at least do the cursory shit. Take a smell. Hell... grab the glucose monitor that's in every doctor's office. Takes all of 30 seconds. But no... "he's depressed". Yeah bitch... no shit. If your blood sugar was over 400 you'd feel like shit and be depressed too. Fuckin moron.

Next time we went in for a checkup she was gone.

She didn't need to be perfect, the human body is a magnificent machine, and every single one is different. But c'mon... do the basic shit right without injecting your hardcore pro-psychology bullshit into the mix. Fix the thing that will kill you first. That's like Trauma 101 FFS...

Quote from: mowens on August 01, 2025, 10:42 AMHe added two medications and says we are doing a heart catheter. He checked me over and left. I asked his nurse practitioner for a more in depth explanation; she said that I am in heart failure. Sometimes they can improve the heart function by cleaning off plaque so the heart can expand and contract better; thus the catheterization.

My father, and FIL have been down the heart trouble road as well. My dad is a pathological eater, chronic sitter, and insulin enthusiast. My FIL is a golfer and a slim guy, he had a clot in the heart so not an earnest heart attack from being a lardass. I'm no Dr, but I can tell you that post-angioplasty (heart-catheter), these two men felt brand new. My dad is rocking 3 stents now, each one for ~70% blockage like you have, and having those in when he had The Big One™ I'm sure saved his bacon. Unfortunately he's wasting his 3rd chance at life post-quad bypass by getting a shiny new deep fryer and the associated recipe books that come with that territory - but I digress.

All that to say, I am convinced that you will see a huge improvement after your procedure, and I wish you well over the next few weeks!

I hope you're right. I can't  walk 100 feet without feeling like I ran a mile.
I'm glad your father and father in law are doing better.

Saw the neuro ophthalmologist today. She doesn't think it's an inflammation issue. She thinks it's because my blood pressure was so high. She thinks I almost had a stroke. I see her in six months.  We'll see how things are then and possibly due surgery to realign my eyes.
